*Warning* This post is for fun! I've noticed recently a little bit of a backlash against the whole zombie thing. Let's be honest, some of it is well deserved. Zombies are like old kung-fu movies: once you see the humor then everything falls into place. I just threw up a new blog post and wanted to extend the idea here to the greater mind. I have decided to give my Disney World zombies some tongue-n-cheek back stories in hopes of alleviating the mindless corpse stereotype. Meet the The Sullivans, from Rochester, NY, who are on day 5 of their vacation. They won a free trip from a local car dealership drawing when they purchased their new car last year. Their teenage kids are ed because they'd rather be at Universal Studios.
Jake is a Chili's restaurant General Manager. He won last years Most Improved Sales award and was selected to be the guest speaker at this years convention over at the Contemporary Convention Center. He believes that through his fool-proof method all the other managers can be just like him. His favorite phrase, which his employees claim he has been known to repeat dozens of times per shift, is "This ain't my first rodeo."
The Nelsons, from Pittsburgh, PA, are on day 2 of their vacation. They came here with the intentions of repairing a broken marriage that involved affairs on both their parts.
More at gamechangersgames.wordpress.com Now it's your turn. What kind of back stories can you come up with for my Disney zombies? |

My ersatz grand daughter auditioned for a zombie roll in their upcoming theme about Halloween. She's thrilled because she was judged too good for them and was upgraded to a demon. I think as a demon she gets lines. She's thrilled. She says the demon costumes are much hotter. |

My favorite zombie story so far is "Zombie in a Penguin Suit" youtu.be/jtdEKIsnEkM followed by Cargo youtu.be/gryenlQKTbE so I need to make a zombie in a penguin suit and a zombie with a baby in a back carrier and a balloon |

Both of those are favorites of mine, haywire. Regarding the zombie backlash, I suspect that most of it comes from those who never really liked zombies in the first place. I will agree that a bad zombie flick is no better (or worse, I guess) than a bad slasher flick. But a good zombie flick, whether done seriously or for laughs, is one that is saying something, not just chucking buckets of gore at the screen. The original Night of the Living Dead, for example, dealt with issues of Cold War anxiety and all of the social upheaval of the late '60s. Others have dealt with loss of individuality, interpersonal relationships, the meaning of and search for family, the dehumanizing effect of technology, fear of militarization, haves versus have nots, and so on. There's a lot there, if you look for it. Which brings me back to the OP and his zombie back stories, a way of finding the humanity in the inhuman. Good job! |

Hey all, thanks for the responses Surely some social commentary going on here under the surface but all in all this has been a fun, free of restraints project. Next on my table are WWII Russians which involve research and accuracy (ugh) so this has been rather light and liberating. I think I should mix these kinds of projects into the queue more often. Thanks, Night Owl |

All of my zombies are medieval, so the only backstory for them is some necromancer disturbing their eternal sleep and compelling them to attack PCs relentlessly in as large of numbers as magically possible, the, end…. |
