Did officers and senior ranks have a different color edging to the wide brim hats worn in the late 17th century?. Or were they all white?. I am just starting to paint up some Front Rank figures for the period.

Officers hats were edged gold for troops it matched their buttons brass buttons = yellow edge and silver buttons = white edge mostly.

Just to warn you, depending on the nationality and regiment, you could have other colored hat trim such as red (for example).

The regiment will be the English 1st foot guards. Also, unfortunately, try as I might, I have never succeeded in uploading photos. However I don't think my paint jobs are worth showing.
