Maybe swap him these items for a bag of army men? May pay off in the future. |

Or wait a year or two like I do when the wife cleans the room. Throwing out all this old toys, keep the parts you want ;) |

I'm with James Wright on this. It worked for me when my sons were much younger… |

my boys don't give a hoot that Dad has their quinjet, but it's hell on earth if I touch any of their hotwheels cars. |

Actually, I would suggest you buy, and paint up, some Army Men figures for him. Then make up some simple rules of engagement, and teach him how to game with them. That's what I did with my boys: they wanted to play with my fantasy mini's, painted, mounted, etc. I saw their Army Men figures in their toy chest, and I started block painting the bits that were different than the plastic's color, applied The Dip, and we were off with some simple rules they could understand. We still put together a game, every few years, even though they are now in their 20's. This will allow you to augment their toy bridges, and other interesting bits, for dual use, by you in your games, and them in theirs. Cheers! |

By the time they reach adulthood the kids have taken/destroyed so much of your stuff that it is no contest on who owes who… |

The rail system in Sodor is clearly quasi-feudal exploitation of the workers (A.I. controlled trains) by the employing class (Sir Topham Hatt and his running dogs). By siezing the bridge you can only help the oppressed take control of the conditions of their labour. I say do it. |

Buy two. Lord knows whatever happened to the die-cast Cars toys that showed up in the Christmas stocking one year. But I know where my copies are -- right next to my Zombie town gas station. |

work out a deal… Yep… "If I can have the bridges, I will buy you two tanks… which I will paint for you… and then you can use them to play with me" I have a whole drawer full of odd vehicles and soldiers which my 6 year old is allowed to use at any time. His fingers stay off my nicely painted versions and he is slowly learning Force on Force… |

Take them with you to scout out toy shops-for every item you buy them, buy one for youself-steer them to those that are useful, like Lego sets. That way the wife doesn't notice. Then take them somewhere to eat.-win-win scenario. |

Nice Post. I have most of those Tomica Thomas items for my 3year old son and they are nice, but the truth is that I enjoy playing with them as much as he does. For us the roles are reversed as he's constantly seeing things in my workshop that he wants to steal from me. I just keep telling him "One day son all this will be yours." |

James Wright has it. It's a waiting game. I find the ERTL Thomas stuff very useful for WW1. Almost spot on 15mm. I have many Trevor the Traction Engines. And a handful of Bulstrode the Barge. I always fancied converting two Cranky the Cranes into the Tower Bridge put head for a Loos game but never got round to it. |
