Hello Gang
The HDI Field Unit (Rob S, Bob D, Marty C, Clif) had a great time at Pacificon this weekend.
We started off early Friday as Marty collected us all along the way.
Our first stop was Games Kastle in Santa Clara, GREAT gaming store! I managed to find some cool Dropzone figs and the other lads collected items of choice.
Next to the Con at the Santa Clara Marriot, lunch and the set up for my first game. Barnet Field 1471 using 28mm figs and Command and Colors rules. Great players in the game. (Rich, Marty, Bill, Kent, Alan to name a few). Alan S. brought cookies to keep us all on song. :) Everyone had fun.
A small break and then Bob and I GM'd our SAGA game of Teutonic Knights vs Steppe Tribes. Again, a great turnout of fun gamers.
Finally, Rob and Marty had seller tags at the midnight Flea Market, so we helped them lug stuff in. I got some great deals on some Infinity troops and some Pokemon cards. Rob and Marty cleared their goods.
Saturday, I hosted another Barnet Field. This time using Warmaster. Great turnout, fun players, Aron, Nils, Joe, Marty, just to name a few.
Rob S and Bob B of HDI, both played in the SAGA tournament all day. Rob ended the day on top of the heap using his Welsh. Well done lad!
Another Mid Day Flea Market and then Bob hosted another round of Teutonics vs Steepe Horse. Fun gaming with KGL, Alan, Robert and several other good lads.
Late night games of Memoir 44 with KGL, Marty and Bob and the the sack . clif

I peeked at a few of Clif's games. Looked good, not really a period of interest for me so I didn't play. Were some really cool games to look at – especially the Balaklava – Charge of the Light Brigade game.

Biggest impression of the convention? How easy going all the gamers I played with or against were. Everyone seemed to be having a good time.

Most fun game I played in? That would be the Cowpens game – Dave P. rules were a kick to play, lots of fun.

If you are on the west coast you should add this convention to your list of things to do.

Just don't plan on a great dealer's room for historicals. For that you have to hit the local hobby shop, Game Kastle – only a few minutes from the hotel.
