We have put together a complete set of our tokens and templates for x wing, and have been getting some feedback about the amounts of tokens in each set (usually being too many target locks for the Empire set, not enough shield tokens in the Rebellion set, too many evade and barrel roll tokens for both sides). We do have token packs for the individual tokens, but I was looking for a bit of concensus on what constitutes a good or proper amount of a given token for either faction? We love the game and play it a lot, but we are new into it, and do not have massive fleets, the biggest game we have played is around 6 ships to a side, so our estimated on numbers were simply to compile packs of 10 tokens for each item, we see that may have been short sited at this point. Any help or feedback would be greatly appreciated. They can be seen here: Rebel: link Imperial: link Individual Token packs: link Thanks in advance, really appreciate it. Jim |

And obviously removing the barrel roll tokens is a good place to start. =) |

What is a crit token for …they are on the damage cards . as stated barrel rolls tokens are not needed . |

What is a crit token for … Like having smoke pouring out of your Fokker Triplane, I find it useful to remind players that this is the TIE fighter with one solar panel shredded and a cracked pilot cockpit … |

Well pretty much what thomoss said, we just use them on the ships themselves, not the cards. While not needed, they were just something we used, so we threw them in. Can I ask you guys how many shields you use in an average game? |

One slightly off-topic comment… You might want to put something on the 'collection' page that you linked to something to the effect of "you can buy the individual components here" with a link. Now I'm not the most patient of internet-users but have to admit, my first thought was – so I'm looking at about $135 USD for a 'full set' but I likely don't need two sets of range gauges / manoeuvre sticks – nice but more than I need… My guess is you are aiming at the tournament player who shows up with his force and would only buy one set but for us 'home players', it seems a bit more than we need to purchase two. Having typed all that – they look very nice ! I haven't purchased any upgrades (yet) but will definitely consider these. |

Well I am currently in the process of udgrading the choices so people can pick individual tokens as opposed to packs of 10, but at the same price. This way if someone want 13 shield tokens, they can buy 13 shield tokens. We will organize it to make a bit easier to get to as well. Thanks Craig |

This is my labor day effort at making the site a little more user friendly to the X Wing player, and giving them more options with regards to purchasing tokens that they need. link Also, as an aside, what tokens might you need that we have not made yet? |

No offense since I have never played the game but why exactly are the tokens and templates needed? |
James Wright | 01 Sep 2014 2:34 p.m. PST |
Needed is a strong word, though you need many of them to play the game, our effort is really to create tokens that are more appealing and durable. Sort of aftermarket pieces that add to the aesthetic, not so much because you need them to play. |

Okay so the game can be played without them then. Thanks for the explanation. |

The game comes with all the tokens and range rulers you need. As a matter of fact, except for the range ruler each ship comes with all the tokens you need to play that ship. Having nice hard acrylic tokens and rulers is so much nicer though. As for the shield tokens question, they vary so much. In the early days Rebels really were the only ones that made use of shields and the Imperials didn't so much. Now that many more Imperial ships are available with shields the Imperials will probably use more, but I think the standard TIE fighter is still the mainstay of many Imperial forces. I'd say eight or ten is a good number for Imperial and maybe needing a few more for Rebels depending on ship selection, so twelve may be better for them. |
