I thought that the cav (combat assault vehicle) was starting on the 1st I also can't seem to access the reaper site either anyone else having the same problem?

McWong7301 Sep 2014 3:04 a.m. PST

starts 8am central standard time in the us apparently.

Chris Palmer01 Sep 2014 3:09 a.m. PST

I has no problem getting on the Reaper site just now. Their count down clock shows just under three hours at this time..

doublesix6601 Sep 2014 3:12 a.m. PST

I get web page not available for both of these
reapermini.com

cavhq.com

That's one reason for asking

8am US is about 1pm UK so I'll have a look later

McWong7301 Sep 2014 3:41 a.m. PST

Can anyone more knowledgeable than me tell me which of the CAV models are the large ones that will work in 15mm? I know that in theory they all can, but I'm really only interested in the larger pieces and all the tanks, AFVs and aircraft (for FWC and similar). Not really interested in the game or the other mechs, but that will probably change once the campaign is live.

doublesix6601 Sep 2014 4:20 a.m. PST

Which 15mm figures have you got and I'll see if I can get some photos for comparison these will be the older metal version's but hopefully the KS will keep the scale of them the same.

McWong7301 Sep 2014 4:46 a.m. PST

I got em all buddy, but the ones on the work bench are Khurasan's Federal infantry, Exterminators and Raathists (space Arabs); CMG Recon troopers; AA Ruskas and Brits; GZG UNSC…

I was looking for the parts of the range that would work as 15mm autonomous weapons platforms/drones and not necessarily 15mm mecha. These are the ones I've seen that may work:

I'm not sold yet on all of these being what I'm after, but they're more in the direction of what I think I can make work in 15mm, than something like this -

Now this is a perfectly cool mini, but with the cockpit where it is I can envisage it sticking out like a sore thumb alongside 15mm figures.

But what I'm really hoping to see are these

ordinarybass01 Sep 2014 5:25 a.m. PST

Wierd. I got an error for both sites also. Maybe too many people were constantly refreshing waiting for the start?

McWong7301 Sep 2014 6:07 a.m. PST

In terms of what's in the campaign and should be good for 15mm, Thunderchild for the win!

Chris Palmer01 Sep 2014 6:44 a.m. PST

Does anyone know if they will be doing any of the vehicles? Or is it all only going to be big stompy robots like the initial offering?

ski206001 Sep 2014 6:52 a.m. PST

Must be a DNS issue. Site works for me, and has a prominent link to the KS page.

There is a "List of Doom" thread over on the Reaper forums where they discuss the various stuff that they hope to include: link

I would turn to the Reaper Forum first for questions like this.

doublesix6601 Sep 2014 8:47 a.m. PST

Heisler, that's part of the problem that I can't get the forum's up, found the KS and its already funded will keep an eye on it as there is no EU friendly shipping so the taxes and shipping might make it a no longer viable option.

Heisler01 Sep 2014 10:21 a.m. PST

There is a history of connection problems on the Reaper forum on the first day of a kickstarter launch for them. You should be able to get in there sometime later today.

Could be wrong, I think the List of doom is the list of existing mech models that are making it into the next edition of CAV. I don't know if it has any bearing on the priority of what will be made into Bones.

The only sure thing is that CAVs not on the list will likely not be made into bones.

doublesix6601 Sep 2014 3:26 p.m. PST

Mcwong I've managed to get a couple of sample scale pictures for 8 of the cavs with gzg figures or scale on my mates painting table when I went around tonight do you want them emailing or put on a PIC site?

McWong7301 Sep 2014 3:36 p.m. PST

Chuck it on a pic site and share!
You're a champion mate.

ordinarybass01 Sep 2014 4:21 p.m. PST

I'd love to see those pics for sure.

doublesix6602 Sep 2014 4:29 a.m. PST

Hi all,

Here's the album as promised I've used some gzg infantry as scale as you can see I've done a picture of 4 together and the a close up of 2 cavs with side views as well I'll see if I can get some more done next week when I'm there again.

$100 USD for 34 mecha, not a bad price, damn good price.

From the unlocking path get extra 2 mecha free & almost at another free mecha.

Hmmmm…. Need more sales to afford to back.

Ron W DuBray02 Sep 2014 6:24 a.m. PST

I would back it but I was partly payed in CAV Minis when I designed some of them and have 2or more of everything already and will only play the first rules set anyway because I like them.

McWong7302 Sep 2014 7:55 a.m. PST

doublesix66, you are a champion!
Those models with the extruding cockpits won't work very well, but the Thunderchild looks spot on for 15mm.

ordinarybass02 Sep 2014 1:13 p.m. PST

Maybe not, but consider the size of a person in a flight suit rather than combat gear and even some of the extending cockpit models start to look more plausible.

McWong7302 Sep 2014 6:46 p.m. PST

Was thinking overnight it wouldn't take much to cut the cockpit off and kit bash something that fits 15mm better.
This is my first real encounter with CAV, it isn't especially popular in Australia, and two of my biggest impressions are that the size wise for 15mm I'm happy with the size as long as I kitbash the hell out of them. The second one though is that the folks behind this range really like near comically big guns on everything!

doublesix6603 Sep 2014 6:12 a.m. PST

Mcwong73 not a problem, I'll get you some more photos next week of others that might fit in for you some of the cavs actually have 2 man crews will do the same again with the front and side view's which gives a better scale of size.

I know what you mean about the big gun syndrome I think a lot of them are rail style gauss guns

Why my mate has put into the KS I've know idea as this is the group picture we did after assembling every cav he had

@doublesix66 – now that is impressive!

Mad Mecha Guy03 Sep 2014 8:17 a.m. PST

That gentleman must of had a CAValier attitude to saving the pennies (or just rich)!!!!!

Regards.

I admire completionist collectors, but that does leave you at a loss for words…

Dracomancer26 Sep 2014 9:58 a.m. PST

The kickstarter is in the final 30 hours. The core set now consists of 4 planes, 6 tanks, and 44 mechs at less than $2 USD/mini for $100. USD
