I've seen a thread or two about the upcoming Fall-In con so I thought I'd throw this out for general consumption… I went past the Host Resort today on my way to the Strasburg RR in Strasburg, PA. There are some changes around the Host that may or may not be up and running by Fall-In. There is a set of traffic lights assembled but covered and inactive at the entrance driveway to the Host. This will be a help for those of us who have sat waiting for traffic to pass so we could pull out. It may also assist foot travelers getting across the Route 30 "corridor of death." Also, directly across the street from the Host is a new Golden Corral restaurant. The entry driveway is lined up with the Host driveway, hence the need for the above mentioned traffic lights. It too looks to be in the finishing stages. There is signage on the building and that is usually one of the later things to go up close to opening. This sits where the old motel was situated that had been closed for some time. It is directly beside of the Continental Inn. |

That's great. For years I have avoided taking a left out of the Host onto Route 30 by taking a back road behind the hotel, past the Tennis Barn (Exhibitors Area), and down to a parking lot two hotels down from the Host, which happens to have a traffic light at the entrance. Just have to be careful dodging golf carts. |

No more Lapp dancing for breakfast, though. No left turn? You must have had bad die rolls all weekend. |

Personally I wasn't too thrilled about the Golden Corral going up but the traffic lights sound like a win. Can't wait until November. |

Sounds like sound improvements. |

"No more Lapp dancing for breakfast, though." You'll just have to make do with warmed up hall pig. And no… I'm not talking about my wife! |

"No more Lapp dancing for breakfast, though." Good joke, but it has been gone for what-- four or five years now? We called it Yapp's, or The Vomitoreum in our group since we had multiple cases of horrible food poisoning there. They even got our NFL offensive lineman from the Panthers when he went with us one time. And that was some BIG heaving in the room, let me tell ya. I'm glad there will be a new(ish) restaurant there for us. I must say I have never had any problem turning onto 30 or crossing it, even when I was carrying a crapload of scenery over from The Red Roof. What, do you guys not have cars and traffic where you're from? 8)= |

Personally I wasn't too thrilled about the Golden Corral going up but the traffic lights sound like a win. Can't wait until November. Remember…just because a traffic light is going to be up doesn't mean: A: It's going to be working…. or more likely B: That people are going to obey it. Many folks have this idea that yellow means "Go really really fast and make that turn!", and that the red light means "It's red for EVERYBODY else but MEEEEEEEEEE…." |

No more Lapp dancing for breakfast, though. There are Lapps dancing in Lancaster? Dang, I always thought they were just colorful Amish! |

Murphy, this is Lancaster Pennsylvania, not Chicago, or NYC, or North Jersey, or DC. Generally the traffic tends toward annoying rather than assaultive. A Golden Corral across the street! I'm sure Fall-In and Cold Wars will cause spikes in their attendance statistics. And they serve Breakfast!!!!! Joy!!!! |

Cap'n; Concur. Living in Montco, but working in Dauphin/Lebanon County, the traffic is bestial, but not nearly as combative as say… Boston… Eric |

Golden Corral is not too bad…. the one in our area was veyr good when it opened…. then it proceeded to decline… the light wil lbe an improvement as I too woudl go right to make that left sometimes and go to the gas station, fill up and then go back left at the light form the gas station. |

If you didn't get the note from HMGS evidently the Host booked everyone last year for the original dates for Fall-In, but the weekend changed, so you need to call and rebook your reservation or you WILL NOT HAVE A ROOM!!!! |

Glad to hear that a traffic light has been put in place. |

Epturner: "Cap'n; Concur. Living in Montco, but working in Dauphin/Lebanon County, the traffic is bestial, but not nearly as combative as say… Boston… Eric" I live in the Harrisburg suburbs. The trick to Capital traffic is knowing when the highways are relatively clear and when and how to take to the secondary roads to avoid the flustercluck that generates at rush hours. And I wasn't being flip about Golden Corral: it offers a broad selection of foods and even has stuff that a diabetic can enjoy! |

I heard this. I am not sure what anyone measn by this… The show dates have been cast in stone.. all of the dates are when the contract is signed… 3 years out. the date did not change, folks just assumed it was the same weekend. I know lots of people who booked the Host on the correct weekend before they even left the Fall-In! last year. I will assume responsibility for this though.. I will get the next few years dates up on the website. Dan |
