Does anyone make 54MM old fashion toy soldiers for the 1st or 2nd Boer War? In particular Boers. |

The Armies in Plastic 54mm Boer figures are pretty nice, and can certainly look good painted in the old fashion toy soldier style. link link |

If nothing else is available you could consider using the Confederates from Tradition of London: link |

The Boers' equipment and even dress differed significantly from the First to Second Boer Wars. In the second war you see more urban Boers kitted out in their city-slicker suits. |

If you are not committed to the 54mm ranges yet, the B-grade Britains were 42mm in height. You would have several choices in metal miniatures and a significant savings per figure. |

Little Legion make some figures suitable for the Boer War. I am actually working on a new 54mm Boer War range to be released next year… |

In 42mm there is also Shiny Toy Soldiers, which is where the head pictured above can be found. You get to choose body, head, arms. |

When you check out the link to Irregular Miniatures posted by Cyrus be sure to look at the Deutsche Homage range (it's at the bottom of the menu in the sidebar). It is a range in the naive style of the early German makers and has a charm all its own. Here is a Boer cavalryman/mounted infantryman:

In 54, you might want to take a look at Dorset: link You can download a PDF listing all the castings Giles sells, and make up your own figures. Giles, who runs Dorset, is VERY helpful with working out which castings work with which heads, arms, etc, and his figures are very early Britains in style. Here's an Adelaide Lancer (South Australian Militia) I painted from Dorset castings:

Another recommendation for Dorset figures. As said above, Giles Brown, the owner, is a real gentleman and is very helpful. I have painted dozens of them--wonderful figures! |

…and another. Giles has the best approach to customer care in the hobby. And probably the biggest range of Britain's bits and figures too. And if he doesn't have it-he'll make it for you! |

Irregular also have some scouts in their 54mm Colonial range which could be used for Boers: link |
