so i am getting into bolt action in 1/72 scale. i am looking at the rules and its saying for artillery and air strikes you need an artillery officer and a forward observer. and for air strikes you need and air force liaison officer and a assistant radio operator.

what have you all used for these models in the game?

Are you going for plastic or metal?

Several plastic sets contain radio operators, such as this classic Esci set (re-released by Italeri):

or this newer set from PSC:

For the accompanying officer, look for some model using binoculars, reading a map or waving a hand (preferably armed with SMG or pistol).

Any fig with a radio or a pair of binocs should do the trick.

How do you feel about using Valiant miniatures ? They are great figures and good value, though a non-standard scale (for plastics)

One of the Revell sets used to come with the 'Scissor Scope' I believe.

You are probably thinking of this set:

FAA makes bunches of sets with just the models you are describing. Unfortunately there aren't any pictures on their furshlugginer site, but take my word they are fine models! 8)=

The Zvezda German reconnaissance team has four excellent sculpts, and only costs a few dollars.

For the United States, I used Imex's Korean War set. Aside from the men using Brens instead of BARs, the kit is all pretty good and you get a few radio operator/observer types.

wow great answers guys. thanks ill look at these sets. but i already have Esci set (re-released by Italeri)that Griefbringer recommended and it came with 2 radio men. i think ill just use them. one for artillery and one for air. i think ill need some way to differentiate the 2. maybe just paint job
