We've had a lot of requests for a PDF version of the rules and your wish is our command.

So please visit our shop at warfareintheageofmadness.com to purchase the game in your choice of print or PDF formats.

If you purchased the print edition prior to August 29, 2014 and might have preferred the PDF version please email your Lulu proof of purchase to VisceralImpactStudios@gmail.com and we'll send you a copy of the PDF edition at no charge. We won't be selling a combined print/PDF version but we want to show our appreciation to those who have already purchased the print edition.

As one of the requesters, I say: Thanks! I'm at work or I'd be purchasing it right now. In any event, I'll be buying a download before the weekend's out.

We're back from visiting DragonCon and I think we've got a PDF edition to all print-buyers who requested one. We had a lot of e-mails so if I missed you please do shoot me another reminder as we really appreciate the many orders we've received so far.

Please e-mail any feedback too! We worked really hard to make WAM as gamer-friendly as possible by focusing on convenience and fun. Thus the smaller forces, small space requirement, and things like using only 6-sided dice and as few markers/counters as possible. If you have ideas or suggestions for improvement we definitely want to hear them.

We've also had some questions about expanding WAM with rules for things like gunships, air, and arty support. We deliberately excluded such things in light of the game's background and a desire to focus on infantry and AFVs. But we might include them in the free DLC we're putting together called "A Clear and Present Madness" (that will be available to everyone at no charge…even non-WAM gamers might enjoy the company level TO&Es.) We've played with air/arty in our WAM games set in current battles so it should be easy to include them in the CPM free DLC.

Helicopters in general were the main thing I felt was "missing" but having read through it (though not played yet) I think its quite cool!

Thanks for the purchase and feedback!

After testing air and gunships were excluded to keep a tight focus on infantry and vehicles and because we felt that, without a solid supply chain, such assets would be too valuable to risk in tactical fights. After the collapase of global civilization their value is almost entirely recon and as spare parts and consumables become rare very few aircraft can actually get off the ground. This seems to happen even today when a central government in a third world nation collapses. One of the first things to stop functioning is the air force.

That being said we've had a few requests for helo rules. We do have them since we've played some games with them. We'll just have to get them into a readable format and release them as free DLC. You're the third person to mention a desire for helo rules so I guess we should reconsider their exclusion!

Personally I'm also a huge fan of some of the scifi gunship models available so it would be fun to use them too. However, we do need to be careful about balance and force size. Gunships mean you need AA assets and if a force includes helos and AA assets then the ground component is diluted. Dur8ng testing we also found that an AA autocannon which could also be used against infantry was enough to keep most players from fielding helos anyway. Even an Apache is extremely vulnerable to groundfire and while a mobility kill/damage against a ground vehicle allows it to fight on it would force a helo to flee the battlefield.
