We are adding black to some of our base range and have started with the 25mm diameter bases (now available from our website) and would be grateful for any feedback regarding other sizes that you feel would be popular in black. Any comments either on this post, direct via our 'Contact Us' page on our website renedra.co.uk or on our Facebook page would be appreciated. We will update our Facebook page and Twitter as soon as other sizes are added to our range. Many thanks |

Interesting. I would not have guessed anyone cared about the color of bases since they probably get painted and flocked anyway. That's what I do, and then paint the edges olive green to match my gaming cloth. Learn something new every day. |

Well, I would like 6*3 cm in black (or any other colour) :-) Other then that, colour is indeed not an issue for me, though white shows through when wear strikes, so I would prefer them green, brown or black. |

i do not need them in any colour, no thank you have based about 500 figs on Renedra bases (6cm x 4.5cm and 4cm x 4cm) in a period of 2 years, have had to rebase all of them as they start warping Alex |

What did you use on the base? Mine are still perfectly flat, though I have not used their larger bases. |

@Puster Magnetic Display Lightweight Range on the underside Coat of Arms Brushscape on the top figures glued with woodglue have already redone my Saxons, most of my WSS, still to do my ECW and Normans changed over to 2mm Mdf and no complaints since have a huge stock of plastic bases that i will have to dump on Ebay Alex |

I appreciate the artistry on them, but don't like the cognitive dissonance when type A base gets placed on type B terrain. And I don't have time to make separate sets of 80 Vikings on grass, grass with some snow, snow, dirt, dirt with some snow, dirt with some ice, mud, mud with some ice, mud with some snow, gravel, gravel with some snow, tall grass, tall grass sticking up out of snow, shallow water, shallow water with ice, ice, longboat planks facing port, starboard, forward, aft, and a few more directions, wood floors, dirt roads with ruts, dirt roads with puddles, wheat, barley, undergrowth, thicket, moss, stones, stone paving, solid granite, solid shale, prairie, partially grazed prairie, and partially grazed prairie with sheep poop. And let's just not get into the terrain options for time traveling Vikings. It's just easier for me to accept flat black bases as abstractions on figures with a fixed single pose that is already an abstraction than guys standing on grass bases in the middle of a snowfield, frozen lake, or the deck of a ship. |

I found that even some paste covered with sand painted plain green or brown makes miniatures look much bettern then just an abstract base. Try it for one or two and then decide – plain green (perhaps twice brushed) may still look pretty abstract on the average table, but off table the minis look better. I use steel (getting these cut was a pain), mdf and plastic as bases and usually prefer the plastic for their ability to glue on other plastic, but as there is no 6*3cm I did most of my Renaissance army with the former. I never heard of this plastic warping, but can imagine that it disagreed with the one or other coat. Thanks for making me aware of that particular problem. I can just add again that untreated they seem pretty stable and flat, but if they DO warp with your minis, you will have to go that road and swap… |
