So while I'm on a search for Safavids/Timurids I decided to start the Mughal Empire as well since most units will be the same. I was wondering if anyone knew of a good rule set for this period and if there are any good figures (apart from Old Glory) which would fit in this range and are 25/28mm |

Eureka makes good range that works for Mughals. Indus Miniatures makes a good range also. Essex makes very nice figures for the time/region that would fit. Also, Foundry makes almost everything for that in their Colonial range. Here are some my photos of Essex: link Indus: link Stay away from Redoubt miniatures. They are advertised as 25/28mm, but are literally 35mm to the eyes. |

Howard Whitehouse put out a set many years ago. Don't know if he has any left. |

What sort of rulesset are you looking for? Mass battles?, skirmish? Detailed, or highly abstracted? |

For figures, look for a 'moghul' listing after the manufacturers' name…. link |

Sorry I forgot to expand on what I was looking for. I'm primarily looking to game during the start of the Mughal Empire until Aurangzeb which primarily excludes heavy British involvement. So primarily from the 15th to the 18th century. Its mainly mass battles with some skirmish involvement. |

I used to use Essex with some Dixon stuff for that, before converting to almost exclusive 10mm. |

TemurLeng, Irregular Wars: Conflict at the World's End has lists for Mughals, Safavids, Steppe Khans, Ottomans, East Indies Sultanates and a whole host of others – including most European colonial powers (Portuguese, Dutch etc). These fast play Renaissance rules recreate the smaller actions so common at the fringes of the European world: Britain, Ireland, colonial and native forces in the New World, the East Indies and the Eurasian steppe. Designed for small engagements in the 16th and early 17th centuries with forces 500 – 2,500 strong, the emphasis is on the tactical concerns of command, company resolve, weather & disease. First edition is available as a pretty cheap download from Vexilia Ltd, but I am currently close to releasing second edition which is much expanded and includes rules for campaigns and 46 army lists. It should be available at the start of December, or failing that, by February at the latest. It'll be available through Vexilia as a pdf, or as a hard copy through Amazon. link |

I just noticed this thread… I have been sniffing around looking for 17thC/early 18thC Mughal stuff and the most appropriate is the Indus range, IMO, especially for cannons and infantry. What little info I can find on the Mughal armies seems to indicate that they had a large contingent of cavalry (often over 50%) so if you already have lots of medieval persian cavalry you are probably over half way there! BTW, if you have pics of you Old Glory cavalry I would love to see them as the pics on their website are useless. |

Codsticker, I have not bought them because, like you mentioned, there is no pictures for the miniatures. I have contacted Old Glory for the pictures so when, if, I get them I'll upload them here. |
