Thank you for sharing that. Quite harrowing and brings to life the realisation that people younger than me, a hundred years ago were dying in their hundreds and even thousands and not all were soldiers. |

Great find; thanks for the link. Not sure I agree with the caption for Aug.26th – "franc-tireur being taken away by German soldiers." The body looks to be wearing a uniform with epaulettes and the soldiers' headgear doesn't look German |

Somebody didn't put the captions in place. This one belongs to a picture in another daily item, only in Dutch. The caption should read: Funeral of a Belgian soldier on the battlefield. |
