Thinking about getting a platoon of late war French, metal or plastic, for late war. Needs to be 1/72 scale or close enough in 20mm. Most of my current Germans are a mix of 3 different plastic manufacturers: HaT, Emhar, and Strelets. Would Early War Miniatures Belgians work? I'd like a line that has all the trimmings you get with late ware french. Chauchet's, grenande launchers, etc. Thanks! |

Why don't you use their 1939 French? |

Did not even think of that… Their ww2 range does not gave the chauchat, I but I suppose the one from the Belgian Ww1 range would work. I assume the helmets and webbing are a close enough match? I know vastly more about the British army than the French. Thanks! |

Also look at Pegasus 1/72 WWI French. I forgot about these guys (I'm using them for 1940 French): link |

Late war French from Lancer miniatures are nice models with grenade launchers and chauchats. I would also second IT miniatures |

My late war French are all Revell and Airfix, fleshed out with a few metals. |

Pegasus makes 1/72 1940 French. The set is perfect for either leg infantry or mounted drags porte, as the set includes an optional (spare) pair of Chatterault FM24/29 so one can field the ten man dragons porte section de combat with the correct number of FMs (ie., 2), or leg infantry with a single FM. There are also VB rifle grenade launchers, and the poilus are dressed in light kit, which is again perfect for either leg infantry in assault order, or dragons porte. The Pegasus WW1 set is correctly equipped and attired fro poilus of 1917-18. Compare the two and besides the support weapons you'll see the additional differences in cut of uniform and kit. I consider these two sets as the perfect way to field French infantry in either WW1 or 1940 or even for North Africa in 1943 and do so on a budget. Leland R.
