Toulon 1793 Board Wargame

Gentlefolk,

Not wanting to wear out my welcome, I would like to beg your indulgence if I mention one last board wargame that is in pre-production status over at Legion Wargames (LWG).

Toulon, 1793 (Andy Loakes), while self explanatory as a title, deals with the entire Toulon campaign from start to finish. Beginning with the first British moves to the feeble initial response of the French; the game captures the emergence of a certain Corsican artillery officer and then proceeds through the series of assaults and relative calm until the very end, whatever that might be as the die roll(s) dictate.

The beautiful map is an almost near recreation of a period map of the time, with some additional assistance provided by Luc Olivier.

Andy also wrote a terrific article on the Siege of Toulon for the most recently published issue of War Diary magazine (WD # 2); in which he not only gives a brilliant little history of the campaign but also shows how he melded the major events into the game proper. His efforts were ably seconded by Luc Olivier who posted a companion article on the "Forts of Toulon", replete with models, diagrams and photographs, which will be of great assistance to all you miniature wargamers who like to have accurate forts and redoubts in your games.

You may subscribe to War Diary Magazine (to which Andy and I are both contributing editors) or order Issue # 2, which is only a few weeks old, below:

While I am a member of several Yahoo! Groups, I'm not a member of any Yahoo! Napoleonic groups, so PLEASE, if this blurb or the subject are of interest to you, by all means, feel free to post links to this article elsewhere on the web.

Again, thank you for your time and patience. The next blurbs you will read from me will be about my forthcoming Sikh War Sourcebook and Tanga, 1914.
