In this hypothetical scenario, the German Asiatic and Mediterranean squadrons are attempting to return to Germany in September of 1914. Scouting Group I has evaded the British in order to escort them back. While coaling in Faxa Bay Iceland, they are caught by the Battlecruiser Fleet. link

Good looking game and blog – can you tell us something about the computer rules in development? |

Interesting scenario – and always good to see your set up NCC1717. I like the coaling rules you introduced – any fine tuning you'd recommend after playing it out? Were you tempted to include separate bases for colliers on the table? The capture/loss of these would have significant impact. Have others tried this? Cheers Alan |

NCC1717, Thanks for the link. Do you have any plans to make the rules more widely available? |

Alan, The scenario was adjusted several times prior to the game to try and balance the distance the British needed to sail vs the time delay of German movement. We did discuss adding some randomization to the German delays. If anything, a bit more delay would be better. With the bad AP shells and volatile Cordite, the British always need some scenario advantages. Since the German plan was to return to the North Sea, the coaling ships would be expendable in this case. They would have been contracted merchants (as arranged for the Goeben in the Med), not navy colliers. 22nd, No plans to release the code. It isn't user-friendly, it only works under OpenOffice, I don't want to support users and I will probably keep changing it until I'm so old I can't type. |
