Another – related – question (or three) about 28mm French and Indian War figures:

What poses would you consider "necessary" for wilderness man-to-man RPG/skirmish, with say four fireteams from four different (dare I say it) factions: Iroquois, Huron/Algonquin, Ranger, Voyageur?

Considering the length of time reloading took, are various stages of reloading, or reloading figures in general, necessary/useful figures to have for very small encounters?

What manufacturer would you say has the "best" poses? The widest range? The most useful?

What do you consider the necessary/useful/must-have poses for various figures of this period and of the forces previously mentioned?

Thanks, gamers. I'm still trying to wrap my head around the rules, and deciding just what figures I really need. Current ruleset is to be THW's Long Rifle. 1:1 skirmish.

Cheers.

I am something of a pose nazi. I prefer all my figures in an advancing posture, at ready or at least firing and moving. I don't like loading, kneeling, prone or overly dramatic poses.

Check out the poses on the Over Mt Men.

One bag of Old Glory Advancing Indians will give you all the poses you need. I would suggest a bag of firing Indians and a bag of advancing Indians. Even if there are a few poses you don't like, the animation is good, and you can't beat the price.

Very specific, concise and useful. Action poses. Noted.

I find Old Glory FIW calling themselves 25mm. I have no basis for a comparison between these and other manufacturers "28mm" FIW figures, sorry. How do they size up? Thanks for the specific pack suggestions. Action poses it is!

You have to choose if your going with the big guys like Redoubt,Northstar,GM or the small ones like Perry,Conquest.Old Glory fits with the smaller ones.

Hello Gromett,
If you are doing skirmish, you want variety for sure. Fortunately the FIW gamer has a lot of nice figures to choose from. Naturally I am going to want you to buy Galloping Major, but you are the one that is going to have to decide what line of figures you like. Our packs come with 6 different figures. If you need to check out the content of each pack, I would strongly suggest that you go to our website. Click on the link below, click on "Online Store", then Galloping Major logo, there you will find the photos which you can enlarge. Good luck with your search.
take care,
Keith

Thanks for the heads-up. I'm torn between Conquest and Galloping Major.

Still looking at packs and making army lists.

It's a tough call, because initially I want a lot of different forces but very few figures for each. I want like ten different forces distinctly represented, but only like four figures per force, because I'm doing RPG/micro-skirmish.

I really appreciate the insight. Cheers.
