"Last week, we brought you word of the Pentagon's plan for a stealth tank. Now we can show you the amazing feats the Ground X-Vehicle supposedly will accomplish—if the concept works.

That's a big if.

A talented artist at the U.S. Army's Tank Automotive Research Development and Engineering Center has drafted some fascinating art depicting the GXV in action. Unlike the sedate artist's conceptions of most military hardware, these drawings are like a graphic novel…"

This really is a joke; right?
In 1939 there was an artist's conception of what a flying monkey could potentially do. Although not ready for WWII, the Defense Department is still hopeful that they will come to fruition.

In 1939 flying monkeys were able to capture and carry a tin man, a scarecrow, a cowardly lion, and a young lady (and her little dog, too)…!

:0D a tank that can do the Tango too. Perhaps?
Far too many idiots are overpaid in these projects (I include a lot of generals here)
There is a tank that can do it already BTW its called the A10 Warthog.
Cheers

Some of those concept vehicles would make cool Miniatures. They'd work real well with Clear Horizon's miniatures. Looks like you could fit one inside his Raven VTOL and they could provide back-up to his upcoming RAT buggy.

Funny, the Army had designs for sub-20-ton tanks as part of the Future Combat System program. They were supposed to be much harder to hit and use active defenses, transportable in C130s, and everything from IFV/CFV to two different self-propelled artillery platforms to a tank to command and control vehicles to recovery vehicles to medevac vehicles, all on the same chassis.

That program was canceled and replaced with the obscenely heavy Ground Combat Vehicle (where the APC is expected to weight more than an Abrams!). *facepalm*

For a military that needs to be anywhere in the world on potentially short notice, lightweight vehicles are ideal, especially if they are as hard to destroy as an Abrams tank. Not that they're as heavily armored or as bulky, but vehicles use jammers, decoys, and even guns to shoot down incoming before they hit.

I like the fact we cant be anywhere in the world on short notice. Always better to sit back and think before sticking ones head into a hornets nest.

Until they can make my Accura prove against everything from 120mm rounds to ATGM and 50 caliber rounds, I think I will stick to 70 ton armored behemoths.

'Hopping' tanks aren't exactly new though….

The Rocket Egress Assisted Carrier Trial dates back to the 1940s….

These will probably come in handy if we invade Bedrock while its defended by Fred Flintstone.
