I am rolling along with my Texas Brigade (US), and although I want my 28mm minis to have nice flags and standards, I wouldn't want to spend a lot of money on high-quality flags printed in England for miniatures that look like… well… I can find images of flags out there that I can modify in Photoshop, but what are reasonable dimensions for a 28mm national and regimental standard? Did USCT regiments have unique regimental standards, or did they typically use the federal Great Seal standard? And are there examples of regimental standards from Mexico (for my Tejanos) before the French invaded? |

The USCT used the same blue with eagle as almost all the other US Regiments. The 54th MA flew the Massachusetts flag initially, I believe later on after it wore out the flag was not replaced. But I don't know exactly when that happened. |

Dimensions would depend on the figure scale you're using. The actual flag dimensions are available and anything you buy or fabricate should simply be scaled accordingly. By way of Texan and Mexican flag examples, the Mexican War Flags Collection is available in ALL game scales, including 40mm through TVAG |

Federal infantry flags were 6' on the hoist and 6'6" on the fly. As a rule of thumb, infantry colors should be as tall as the mini carrying it. |

TKindred, Thank you. Would Pigma-type pens bleed through paper coated with PVA glue? I think the best choice for adding words and numbers to my flags would be to write them on after printing. |

Some of the USCT regiments were presented hand-made flags by the "colored ladies" of various locals. |

That wasn't just a colored traditions. Many White units got their flags made or paid for by patriotic women from the home town. |

I just make and print my own using Powerpoint. |
