I have been searching the web and books to see what versions and when they deployed in North Vietnam. I see that ( from Wiki) that the SA-2F started showing up in 1970. I'm interested in the earlier versions

Sorry to take so long to reply, I had to trawl through reams of notes to find a discussion I had with J D Webster and a few others some years ago,I kept getting side tracked!

OK after 1970 the Sa-2F entered service and by Linebacker in 1972 was probably ubiquitous. Prior to that the Sa-2B was the flavour of choice. It is possible that when first deployed a handful of Sa-2A were supplied but only in insignificant numbers if at all.

So a good rule of thumb would be B's until 1969; 1970-71 B's changing to F's and 1972 on F's. Hope this helps.
