…and thought it would make a good 'watch tower' for my Crusades project.

With the exception of the figure and spears (both Newline Designs 28mm)and the modified Dixon lantern everything is scratchbuilt.

The first pic. shows what it looked like when purchased.

The only 'out of scale' area is the walkway around the tower so I tried to distract the viewer by adding the details on top.

I think it came out 'ok' considering the cost (10.00) and the overall shape/scale.

That turned out great!

I saw that a while back, and thought the same thing, but decided to pick it up another time. It scales out well, and what a great value!

Nicely done, very creative work.

Looks great! I did something similar with one a few years back. The very top piece broke off so mine didn't turn out quite like yours. Hope you don't mind me sharing:

Nice work! And fits the part too!

Nice, I've used the same birdhouse, but with a textured grey spray paint (masking the roof and base), it's for my Splintered Lands animal world. There was another type of castle birdhouse I've used with a reddish textured spray paint for the bad guys, and some mini ones I'm using as outposts.

Excellent, now I have to make a trip to Michaels!

Hopefully, Michaels will do a Roman blockhouse, er, birdhouse next. ;-)

Sounds like it's time for a few of us to head for Michael's.

I used that spray paint that looks like stone and it came out so good that I did another one.
Both reside in Gondor now.

Very creative.

What's 'Michaels'?

War Panda26 Aug 2014 6:11 p.m. PST

Michaels are a chain of Hobby / Arts Supply Stores in North America.

I've also got one painted up in grey. But I like the look of the one without the 2nd story so may try to remove it and make it a smaller separate guesthouse.

Looks like it would scale even better for 15mm figures !!

Nice find, and a fine job of super-detailing.

Smoke from the brazier is spectacularly good !!!

Very nice work. I've got one but have never done anything with it.
