Hi, does anyone have advice for painting 15mm Madhist Dervish infantry? I've got them glued to wooden bases for painting. I was going to prime them white. Would I be better off priming black? But I've got the base colors a friend wants them painted. He said he'd do the patches and inking when I got the figures to him. There's about 40 figures to do…

I would prime white, paint them and then give them a light black wash and gloss seal them. Your friend can paint the patches, re-gloss them and then Dull-Cote them.

I agree, prime white, then do the flesh and other bits. Don't tell anyone but I didn't even paint their clothing, I just left it the base coat white then the wash darkened the folds. Much simpler when you are doing lots of them.

I primed my dervish figures gray and then dry brushed the entire figure white. Then I went back and painted the flesh areas and put in the colored patches. I'm not a fast painter by ant means but I was surprised at how quickly this process allowed me to field a couple hundred figures. I used dullcoat to seal them also.
Hope this helps,

I'm a road-to-Damascus convert to black undercoats, though this is since changing to 10mm. I did my Madhist 15s with a white coat, and they worked well enough.

Prime with Krylon spray camouflage dark brown.
Then dry brush down to flesh.
Paint the jibbas white.

Ansar I would prime white, Fuzzies, black.

I do like this idea of priming in black then dry brushing everything white. It's an extra step, two if you have to paint black items, but may be worth it in a many cases.

Prime black with crappy wal-mart flat black.

Paint them the skin color you want to use with a big brush. Then paint their clothes with Wood grey 10 from cel vinyl or GW's rakarth flesh. Dry brush Delta ceramcoat's trail tan over that and then their cream over that.

Put a wash on them. When that is dry dry brush them with the cream color again and then do the details.

I primed mine in white then washed them in gray. Wet brushed them in white until desired shade. Paint flesh and wash till desired shade. Add patches with a liner brush and paint weapons. Fuzzy can be primed in black or dark brown. Look up blue moon fuzzy on the colonial page because I primed them in black.

Primed white and then "dipped" followed by touching up a few details. Goes really fast for lots of figs.

40? What are you going to do with 40? Should be able to churn out 400 with these techniques (even better, play the early campaigns of '84-85, and then you don't have to add all those fiddly patches that take all the time!
