I've just posted a video on my site of a basing technique I used for 28mm figures, showing how I did it for basing up some arabs for Cross & Crescent. I'm pretty sure I copied/evolved the technique from something on the ever-brilliant McPhee's site, but here it is in a video/ Some of the end results can also be seen here:
Hopefully of use to someone out there… |

Hello! I am a moderator over at reddit.com/r/minipainting and we've been getting a lot of questions on how to make bases lately. You should post this over there. |

I've done some without the stain….but the you just have , erm, sand. That's ok for some stuff, but I found the stain was an easier way of getting an even base layer (easier than painting sand!) for drybrushing onto. Any pale paints workforce the drybrushing – experiment with what you have really Grass is blob glue then dunk, and probably press down on the grass whilst dunked. I Matt varnish spray at the end. No Ill effects on the grass… And it may even help it stick a little. Maybe. The music is license free … Unsurprisingly! |

That was good timing. I pushed my based Zulus aside last night to think about how to finish off the basing. I never thought of using wood stain. |
