Tell me about your terrain. How'd you make the ground cloth? And the hedges. They look great.

Axebreaker23 Aug 2014 5:26 a.m. PST

Thanks and the cloth is layered with spray paint in various hues of green, yellow/green and light browns. The hedges are door mats cut into strips and spray painted like the cloth plus lichen glued here and there on it and loosely sprinkled on the cloth. Different shape Styrofoam hills are placed underneath the cloth for elevations.

Beautifully done. Everything a game should be.

Fantastic table! Your terrain ideas are simply brilliant!

First, what kind of cloth did you use…I want one for a 6x12 table, but I would have thought that if you spray painted it, it would dry and crack.

Also, enjoyed the AAR. I have a particular interest in the Saratoga Campaign of which Hubbardton was a key preliminary battle, so I went through this scenario in the supplement. Looks great.

Fantastic work well done.

I too would be interested to know what kind of cloth and does it dry and crack?

Regards

@Everyone
Thank you kindly!

@raylev3 and Broglie

It's a felt cloth that you can order from various fabric shops to your size specifications and color.I have never had an issue with drying and cracking. When spraying I hold the can about 10in or so away and spray in a back and forward motion making sure the can is always moving to avoid caking in spots that could possibly lead to cracking. I hope this helps.

Absolutely terrific. Well done.

Your wargame table, as already mentioned, is quite superb and I really like the Perry Miniatures range of AWI figures. And you blogpage is top notch as well. thumbs up

Axe, what is the name of the place you ordered the clothe from and whay brand, style, color and so on.

Axebreaker23 Aug 2014 2:53 p.m. PST

@Captain DEwell

Thank you on all counts and indeed the Perry AWI range is superb.

@Nevinsrip

I no longer remember as it's been sometime, but really any dark green felt cloth from a fabric store will work then head on down to your local DIY and start buying a bunch of cans of light green, yellow/green or ochre, light brown and start spraying in successive layers until satisfied. It will be a few cans.;-)
