I've tried posting a couple of times already so third time lucky. I've finally put the finishing touches to my converted soviet cavalry, after many hours of removing detail and then rebuilding it back up with greenstuff my ten man unit is completed. So first off thanks to cbaxter for the idea and to all the people who gave me feedback when I posted my first two conversions. So here they are in all thier sabre flashing glory

I'm very pleased with the end result so thanks for looking
Cheers for now Russ

Very nicely done! The paint jobs on your horses look very good.

Those horsemen look outstanding! It would be a shame if someone commanding a German force took them out. But If I could, I surely would…evil grin

Nice!

Thanks guys for all the positive comments

Who asked the joker, I'm the same in respects of cavalry its like a New meets Old in a rose coloured spectacle way

ColCampbell, the horses are painted mainly with GW paints, they seem to have a smoother finish than Vallejo paints.

Robby if it ever happened I'd consider it a honour to have them swept off the board before the mighty German war machine!

pzivh43, Marc the plastics fan, 79thPA, M C LesingeDew and Gungnir thanks for the feedback. Once I get myself rested up a bit I'm going to have ago at some German cavalry! Probably SS so it will probably test my skills even more than these fellows did.

So thanks for looking
Cheers Russ, or as someone else called me in one of his posts B-man

Add me to congratulating you. They are great and hope they give the Jerrys a bloody nose on the table.
Cheers

You could also use that Soviet cavalry in a battle with Japanese forces in Mongolia, circa 1939.

Quite a few mounted actions there, versus Japanese cavalry and infantry with local auxiliaries.

Thanks Zargon, it was a pet project I wanted to do! The amount of work, time and greenstuff involved just wasn't an issue. I'm more than happy with the end result.

dBerczerk, I hadn't thought of that, I suppose they could be used for "back of beyond" or similar type games.

So thanks for looking
Cheers for now Russ

Thanks cbaxter you certainly planted the seed, I enjoyed doing them despite being a little time consuming. I plan on doing more once I have the time to spare, I think they will be German next time.
So thanks again
Cheers Russ

You gonna do dismounted versions?

bracken Supporting Member of TMP29 Aug 2014 9:58 a.m. PST

Stepman3 if all goes well thats the plan, they should be a lot easier to do. Its just a case of getting all the parts together that I will need. So as they say watch this space!
