I'm vaguely interested in creating a 6mm Ottoman army as an alternate enemy for my 1809 Austrians (so more Balkans than Egypt, I think).

Does anyone have any suggestions how this might be organised for the Black Powder rules? I'm not that familiar with Ottomans, so if someone has already made their own force charts then I'd be grateful. What unit sizes, strengths and special rules would be suitable?

I believe that the "The Last Argument of Kings" supplement does have an Ottoman army list. Officially this is about 50 years too early (at least!), but could it still be used for the Napoleonic period? Would much have changed in the Ottoman army between (say) 1750 and 1809?

you might upgrade the stats on the artillery some as the Turks did have European advisers and one or two "new army" or standing army units that might be considered trained. Lots of skirmish infantry in mobs , lots of cavalry with lances, some even still using bows. and maybe at least half the artillery to be heavy guns that can not move, and no horse guns.

The Nizam-i-jedid (European trained infantry) were disbanded in 1806 at the insistence of the Janissaries who had revolted against the Sultan.

And of course you have to tell me this on the same day that Brigade Games announces the release of some very nice Nizam-i-Jedid figures in 28mm:
