I think the write up says it all: "British militaria, in particular officer's peak caps, have been largely overshadowed by the interest surrounding Third Reich military collectibles. To the untrained eye one British cap may appear much like another, however this area of collecting is highly specific and can be quite complex. " Who knew? |

You could also pick up Japanese Military Sake Cups 1894-1945 for £39.99 GBP! Shame it only goes back as far as 1849 as the earlier ones are more interesting! :-) |

The author of the "peaked caps" book is a member of the badge/insignia forum I frequent. It's not an area of interest for me, but you have to understand how something like this is a godsend to collectors. Having a definitive reference work is the cornerstone of the hobby. The price (which is about par for the course) reflects the small print run, the large number of illustrations, and the esoteric subject. Years before there was Kickstarter, I pre-paid to ensure this beauty got printed link Worth every penny. |

I'm waiting for the definitive work on British officer's sticks (1933 to 39), and a similar work for that period on polo mallets wouldn't go amiss. |

I love the Naval and Military Press. Their catalogue is extensive and while many of the historical works are in the public domain, a hard copy including the maps is worth the price…especially during their sales. |
