There is a high court challenge in progress now so we may be lucky. Otherwise yes, a pity that a maritime nation can't do more to preserve its history |

Sad to see it go, but preserving a warship is HUGE outlay of $, especially one that -despite it's historical significance- isn't going to have quite the worldwide attraction that other ships might have. Sounds like it was kind of a doomed hope from the start. |

Very sad. The same fate befell the WWII-era CV USS Enterprise, which literally held the line alone in the Pacific for a while and fought in almost every major engagement there. Halsey led the fight to try to save her as a memorial but was unsuccessful. |
