I am busy doing some Dutch for the 1809 period and want to paint up the 2nd Cuirassiers. However I haven't found a specific range in 15mm and was wondering if French Cuirassiers would be the best fit |

Scotty08 I posted this yesterday link Which shows a Dutch Cuirassier from 1806-10. I am not sure whether they were equipped with the cuirasse at this time – clearly they aren't in the drawing. But if not, late period [1812-15] elite company [w/epaulettes] French Dragoons may be a reasonable bet [w/out the bearskin obviously]. If they did wear the cuirasse, then French cuirassier would appear to work fine. Can't help with the saddlecloth/sheepskin appearance. |

Elting, in Napoleonic Uniforms, says that they were given the cuirass in 1809; he doesn't say when in 1809, but I would guess near the end of that year. He shows the cuirass as yellow metal. He shows a private with a saddle cloth just like that of a French cuirassier except that it is light blue with white trim. In 1810, when the Kingdom of Holland was incorporated into France, it became the 14th Cuirassiers. |

Scotty08, I wouldn't use french cuirassiers as afaik in the 1809 campaign they didn't had received he cuirass. In fact they received the cuirass from the dutch guard cuirassiers who were converted to hussars at that time. I use the CGM french 1815 elite dragoons (FCW013 – French Dragoons Elite Charging (X2)) for this unit. Of course FCW014 could be used |
