"While the Mark I and later the Mark IV tanks were excellent infantry support weapons, and could even create a substantial breach in an enemy line when used in numbers, they lacked the speed to exploit that gap. In late 1916, William Tritton proposed a faster vehicle to the Landships Committee which would be capable of filling this role on the battlefield"

Nice looking model.

I've always loved the Whippet. No-one builds a better tank than us British. Well, apart from during part of WWII and since we stopped building Challenger 2s… 8^(

It was a great pity that we couldn't have produced Centurion in time for D Day. Still.

Likewise, always liked the Whippet.

I really like how the tracks are modeled and painted. Overall a very convincing model. But alas, it's WWI Germans for me!

Just don't expect the correct MGs

VonBurge20 Aug 2014 9:43 a.m. PST

At 15mm the MGs look about as close as I would expect to the numerous images of Whippets MGs I've been able to google up.

Why do you imply that they are not correct?

Privateer4hire20 Aug 2014 10:41 a.m. PST

I have built this miniature and think it's a solid model.

They are the same MGs (same sprue) used on the Mark IV miniatures. Frankly if the MGs for the model were as small as they appear on plastic models I've seen, you wouldn't have to worry about them. One or two plays and they'd be snapped off either during the game or during transport. YMMV.

The MGs on that model are correct the ones people have been getting are has Privateer says the Mk IV MGs which aren't correct

Ahh…so they, BF, are supplying the model with guns other than the ones shown in the picture. Well that is an issue.

Going to have to pick up some of these… have always loved the Whippet…

Didn't realize they'd pulled the text from my Iron Fortresses article for the Whippet blurb… cool… :D

What sort of MGs did the Whippet use?
