Could this be done? What modifications would you need ?

With their recent notice of WW1 vehicles, I'm wondering if Warlord doesn't plan a supplement to do just this.

I really don't know what you'd have to adjust other than, say, scenarios and force orgs.

US forces would lose the move and fire bonus and maybe everybody would gain equivalent of the buzzsaw rule for their machine guns.

It is easily done. Very few modifications are needed, even for playing early war. There is a comprehensive review on the BA Forum in this thread:

The forum also features several after-action reports as well, for example:

Depends on how big you want the supplement to be when you throw in Western and Eastern fronts, Palestine, Gallipoli, southern Africa and if you really want to get pedantic New Guinea.
Add in eary , mid and late war issues as well.

Ww1 more than just muddy trenches.

I uses Bolt action to do East Africa WW1. I uses the GAjo variant rule from there website.

We have – works better in late war/Russian Civil War IMO, where there is more variety in weapons and unit tactics are closer to WW2

Looks like the Bolt Action WW1 supplement is scheduled to be published in September 2015.

Played my first game of WW1 (and BA) using the GAJO mods last week. Apart from the "Indirect Fire" rules I thought it was very good.

Will be having another go soon.
