link If, like me, you remember with fondness the excellent late 90's turn-based strategy game "Epic 40,000: Final Liberation", you may be excited to see that Matrix Games and Slitherine, who have a long history of well-done strategy games, are releasing "Warhammer 40,000: Armageddon". It's currently in beta, but based on the strength of some of their recent titles (especially Pandora: First Contact), I'm hopeful this will turn out to be a worthy successor to Final Lib! This one looks to be turn-based, hex-based, etc., and features Imperium vs. Orks. I hope it does well and eventually leads to seeing other races released in future expansions. Beta testing signups are here, if you're interested: link

But will it include Final Liberation's wonderful live action cut scenes? Quite possibly my favourite pieces of narrative art from the entire 40k franchise… |

I'll keep my fingers crossed. Since Epic Armageddon is my favorite miniatures game I'd love to see this do well. |

I have gotten Emails from Sliterine, some of their stuff (East Front, Small Battles [or whatever they're called]), looks good, but has anyone played them? The price certainly looks right. |

But will it include Final Liberation's wonderful live action cut scenes? Quite possibly my favourite pieces of narrative art from the entire 40k franchise… I know! I absolutely loved those cutscenes, especially the ones with Commissar Holt and the one with the Tallarn. If anyone hasn't seen them, you can get a taste of them here: YouTube link Those cutscenes are what a 40k movie should look like. |

@Andrew Preziosi: I've never played any of those, but I've been playing the heck out of "Pandora: First Contact". It's a well-put-together game akin to Sid Meier's Alpha Centauri, but with graphics suitable to today's computing power, a more logical tech tree, and some additional depth added by an alien invasion partway through the game. It's been an excellent game so far (I've played about 20 hours' worth), and if this new Epic 40k game is of the same quality, then I think we have something good to look forward to. |

Admittedly I played that game on my PC as well. Played the Dawn of War series of games as well, but resource building just doesn't seem to fit the 40K game well. I still remember the Orks Lifta-droppa weapon. With such crazy names for Ork weapons I always wondered why no one ever made the Orks an Azz-kicka. |

I didn't care much for Dawn of War, I'm afraid. RTS's just don't do it for me, especially when they turn into frantic click-fests. |
