I have a 1:43 diecast SDKFZ 231. Is it too much out of scale for Bolt Action? Here's a comparison shot with an American Airborne trooper: [URL=http://s1310.photobucket.com/user/Armchair_Wargamer/media/IMG_20140818_134430_552_zps95b82cdd.jpg.html]

IMHO it's too big. I use 1/48 vehicles but all my minis are elevated on GW slottabases so they look taller next to the vehicles. However, tolerances vary so I'm not going to say 'don't use it.' Here's a pic of a scale model next to a few figures:

I think if you put him on a 25 or 30mm base it will raise him up enough that no will really notice. |

If you think it is ok, then it is ok. Your toys, your game, your decision. Does Bolt Action have a limit on scale disparity? Jurgen |

If its the only model of that type or all models of that type are the same scale then you should have no problems with pretty much anything in the 1/40 to 1/60 range. Plenty of people use 1/48 with 1/56 infantry and you can't tell unless you put the 'tank' model up against a similar one of a different scale. |

Use it, it's too nice a model not to get in to the action. |

I use some 1/43,1/48, and 1/50. For me it's just the obvious open seated vehicles being too big with seated troops or crew in 28mm. Tanks for instance are only out of place when different scales are next to each other. I have a German 1/43 eaglemoss truck with no benches that holds several troops based and all and I like that. |

The problem I am finding in this age old debate, is that often times 1/56 look too small, even in the same line. The Wittman Tiger from Warlord is an excellent 1/56 model, but the crew figure that comes with it is anemic compared to their own WW2 German lines. The scale question is not something I have found much resolution for. The 1/43 or 48 models look massive to me, and a lot of the 1/56 look tiny, even though nominally they are the right size. I think, as mentioned, bases play a large role in the scale problems between miniatures and vehicles. As to the OP, I actually think it looks good, and I am kind of on the 1/56 side of the debate. It is a bit big, but not so crazy massive that it jumps out at you. |

My 28mm vehicle collection varies from 1/43 to 1/56. My opinion is, if you already own it, go ahead and use it. |

I just completed a 1/56th Warlord T34-85 and the crewman was noticeably smaller than my Warlord 28mm Russians. It won't stop me from using the tank with the infantry, though, but it is disappointing that they really didn't even try to be even similar. I chose to have the tank buttoned up because it is for Chain of Command and the ranges in that game make it smart for the crew to not expose themselves. It also hides the difference between the figures. |
