Not sure exactly where this is flying but this is a rather unique desert camoflauge pattern on a CH-53E helicopter:

and, just in case you can't make it out, here's the close-up:

Wonder what sort of mud flaps the crew chief's Hummer sports ...? :-)

This can also be seen in the Osprey Elite book "Suggestive Camoflague Patterns of the US Vol 3: 1989-2002"

And its been floating around the web for a year-plus... I know I see it pop up on USENET aviation lists periodically.

I might try something similar if I ever get my modern stuff painted, though my meager painting skills mean if I do paint a silhouette into my camo pattern it will be more likely to be identified as a cow or a clown or a dog...

Try a painter's tape stencil Cpt. Arexu.. It's fiddly but once cut out, applied and the design dry-brushed or lighty sponged (to prevent/reduce bleeding) it comes out nicely.

Sweet! I will try that for sure.

The paint scheme looks like, reminds me of the paint scheme of the ill-fated Iran hostage rescue attempt, in 1980. Although those helos were in solid tan scheme.
