I'm in the process of obtaining Avalanche Press' board games from their Second World War at Sea series to use for minis campaign. I emailed them an order last week for their game Horn of Africa and replacement countersheets for Midway. I had tried to call their order line but the mailbox was and continues to be full. I have received no response to me email to date either. Anyone use them recently or know if they are on vacation or something?

one week…? <snicker>….

Avalanche Press is not really known for stellar customer service. Well not really known for customer service at all…

Now, have they actually taken payment or are you just trying to place an order ?

If they have taken payment, well, I'd suggest being patient a bit longer.

As far as I can tell, they do fill orders but it will take some patience.

I ordered two games from them on August 5th. They just shipped today. That will give you a standard by which to measure your own order.

They are currently a two person operation.

So things can run a bit slow, especially if they are rolling out a new game. Currently the Panzer Grenadier game on the early bit of the Korean War is in process.

If you have ordered just give them some time. If you are trying to contact them for information…well that might require even more patience. : )

The "new" Avalanche Press has been a great step forward from the old version but there is only so much such a small firm can manage.

Guys, thanks for the feedback. I have never dealt with them before so I had no yardstick by which to measure them.

I suspect, based on my recent experience, that they ship orders either once a week or every other week. So if your order misses the shipping day, it waits for the next one. I had ordered artic convoy and got it about 2 wks later (more than acceptable time frame from date of order). That evening I discover the game was missing a counter sheet! A number of emails about this went unanswered and so I inquired on comsimworld's game company support page. That's when they answered me that they'd look into this. Took about 3 wks from then to get the counter sheet.

So you may want to inquire there as well.

great games, but quite a big difference in responding to the customer from what it was years ago. If it's a one man operation, it is more difficult to wear all the hats and perform all the duties. However, not responding to customers in a timely manner can cause a bad reputation and possibly lose them future orders.

Thanks Bob.

I know my brother orders games from them. I don't know how long they take to ship, but he always gets everything he ordered.

I've been waiting for the second game in the series "Infantry Attacks" since it was ordered in 2007. If you want some "Love" from them you have to over to Consim World and look them up there. They seem pretty active there and will answer questions.

I went to Consim and joined, however it will not let me post a message, keeps saying my user name and password are invalid and when I click on the "trouble signing in?" link, I do not get the email I'm supposed to. My concern is that I have not even received a response to my email placing the order and requesting a Paypal invoice. Have no idea if they even received it.
