WIP: "Pugsy" O' Doyle never had much in his hard life when he was growing up as a kid and living in a small shack with his folks and brothers on the lower South Side by the rail-yards. He had to fight for everything he got, and he learned to use his fists quite well, which was eventually noticed by others and he found himself given the chance to "be somebody" in the boxing ring. It was Boss Callaghan that supported Pugsy's early career and gave him the support and "friendship" that Pugsy had always wanted and needed in his hard life, and in his boxing career when nobody else did. He helped make Pugsy "a contender", Pugsy's high point came in his fifth round knockout of "Hurricane Johnson" that night, long ago at "The Gardens". A hard uppercut followed by a clobbering right hook, put Johnson on the mat and down for the count. It's sad that so few people nowadays remember that special night of glory like Pugsy does…. He hates it when people around him whisper that he is "punch-drunk"… With his boxing days behind him, he is now Boss Callaghan s "Personal Protection". With an intense and unshakable loyal to Callaghan, he stands quietly by and watches anyone and everyone around "Mr. C." (as he calls him respectfully), and if needed will put whoever it is that is posing a danger to "Mr. C." hard down on the floor, just like he put "Hurricane Johnson" down on the mat, that night back at "The Gardens"…back when he was "a contender"….so many years ago….
