Yes it does very much. I had seen that they were going to have stuff for Spain, I just wanted to see what it was. |

Sacacens can = Grand Seljuk (Baghdad) or Seljuk of Rum (Iconium) or Hamdanid Syrian Successor City States (Edessa, Aleppo, Mosul, Damascus) or Fatmid Egypt or Ayiubuds (Saladin)? Are there any dates specified for any of the factions or you can build whatever you want? Thanks, Pat |

Hi, There don't seem to be any dates specified for the factions. The Saracen list mentions two special heroes of the Crusades who can be fielded. One is Kilij Arslan from the first Crusade, and the other is Saladin from the third Crusade. All the best, George. |

Factions in the rule book are: Can anybody tell me why these are described as "factions"? |

Can anybody tell me why these are described as "factions"? Probably to avoid calling them armies which might imply massive amounts of figures. |

I'm a bit disappointed that they have apparently chosen to lump all these different Near Eastern powers (see agrippavips' post) together under the label "Saracens" (which is really just a medieval European synonym for "Muslims"). And let's not forget the Mamluks! These states did, in fact, differ in their military institutions, troops and tactics. By contrast, in SAGA they took pains to differentiate between "Vikings", "Jomsvikings" and "Hiberno-Norse" (= Irish Vikings) and had separate rules for early and late Saxons ("Anglo-Saxon" and "Anglo-Danish", respectively). Is there any explanation in the C&C rulebook as to why they took this lump-together approach? |

Yes, but initially there was only "Viking" and that had to cover all the different types of Vikings from Iceland to Russia. The others came out in later expansions. They indicated that there would be more C&C releases, so I do not doubt that there will be more specific battleboards released. When you are starting out it is good to go generic, so then people can paint up an army of Seljuks, Mameluks or whatever else and still be able to play. |

I just order the rule book and two sets of dice, Christian and Saracen.I have lots of miniatures for both sides in 28 and 15mm. Question am I good to go or am I still missing items that I'll need? |
Dexter Ward | 26 Aug 2014 3:01 a.m. PST |
Rules, dice and miniatures is all you need. Assuming you have a 12" ruler somewhere, or just a 12" long stick marked at 6,4, and 2 inches. |

Dexter; thanks, that's what I forgot. Those measuring sticks! |
