Hi guys,

Following the acquisition of a treasure trove of Warhammer 40k items i started to build an Ork BFG Fleet.

First article, i give you an Ork Brute Ram ship built of a few W40k bits, a few WFB bits and some pieces of sprue. :)

I sincerely hope the step by step guide will help any of you that goes down the same path.

Definitely has the orky quality. ;->=

I like choice of pieces. I might have suggested chopping a bit out of the midsection of the chainsaw, but that would be do as I say. I never get that even.

Did want to point out that the bolters, chopped, make nice little ships by themselves, with barrel as thrusters.

Thanks!

I like your kit-bash conversion. It's nice to heave extra bits to try out your ideas -- lessens the fear you will ruin scarce pieces.

My sons and I started collecting the Games Workshop Man o' War ships back in 1996, and we still get in a game every now and then when they visit.

Their MoW Ork fleet has some interesting ships too. A little harder to do conversions with white metal hulls, but you've given me inspiration to keep trying.

Well, part 2 is up.

I have modified the ship a bit and painted it. I also built 3 more exactly like it. :)

Bit disappointed you didn't keep the chainsaw; my suggestion was tone it down a bit, not drop altogether.

Orks are SUPPOSED to look ridiculous, as you suggest, and looking forward to this other plan you have…

I will admit this bad boy is quite the charmer, especially as you seem to be working on droves. (Can four be a drove? Well, I suspect you won't stop there.)

You are correct about the number of pieces, but as each has details of it's own, there's far fewer than if you fitted and glued each greeble on. Getting the right parts in the right place is the trick.

There's some genius in that.

Hmmm, i could add a horizontal tip to it, just a few mm under the prow. Would suggest ramming desire and it would look toned down indeed. :)

I continue to work on my Ork fleet. This time an Ork Kroozer size ship (albeit a bit small compared to Chaos or Empire). I can't figure out if i will add more detail or not. Seems a bit empty but there's not much room left for more stuff.
