Someone raised an interesting point in the other thread: How big are your solo games typically? How many figures/ units? How much space? Do you tend to play smaller games solo than with other players or is it about the same? Bigger games? Cheers |

I do 15mm WWII skirmish (1:1) usually on a 4 x 6 table. I often use the Skirmish Campaigns books. Opposing sides are 2 or 3 squads each and maybe a vehicle or two per side. I normally operate squads by fire teams so mentally, it keeps things neat and quick. |

Pretty sure I'll be playing on the 3' X 3' (dinner) table. I'm building a few 2' X 4' tables at two different heights (standing and sitting), so I'll have built-in "high ground", for the garage/basement play area, to be able to build a variety of 4' X 4' and 4' X 6' tables. When I get around to it, I'll let you know how it worked. Planned projects: 15mm SF (fireteam through platoon), 28mm FIW (RPG through platoon). |

Anything from 4.4'x5' to 2'x2' depending on what I am doing. |

28mm WW2 on a 10x6 table, with about three platoons of Infantry on each side and lots of tanks. It takes months to complete a game though. |

I am lucky to have a 3 foot by 3 foot table in my small war room. I usually play 28mm skirmishes with 5-12 figures a side or 15mm platoon per side games. That said, I sometimes have 20-30 x 28mm figures per side if the scenario will stand it – eg Viking raids, Scifi urban combat. When playing the 15mm games I sometimes just play on an area 2' by 2' and I also have a footsquare board for very small 15mm skirmishes. Game size tends to be very similar whether I am playing solo or head to head. |

I tend to keep the forces small, since I don't have a lot of space. Around 4-8 figures per side in space combat games and 10 figures per side in skirmish type games. |

I am lucky enough to have a more or less permanent 6x4 table to play on. One of the reasons I like solo games is I can leave them set up and play whenever I get the chance. Size of forces varies. My stargrunt games are usually a reinforced platoon per side 6-8 squads, plus some occasional vehicles or other special bits. |

I tend to set up at least a 4'x6' whether I need it or not, but usually use 6'x9' table. In the recent past, games have ranged from as few as 7 figs up to about 400. In years past, when I had a bigger table, up to about 1600 figs (I miss my old table). Game size hasn't really changed since I started gaming more solo stuff. The games do take a lot less time to reach resolution though. |

I do historical refighhts solo and just general quick play equal points stuff with friends. As I have no time restraints playing solo these games are considerably larger in scope and size. Never counted the numbers involved but its hundreds (maybe thousands)of figures on a 5x8 foot table. |

We generally do 'Grand Skirmishing' with platoon or company sized forces each side. We also do small skirmishes with a few figures. As for table size, we use 6 x 4 up to 8 x 6 foot. |

When I game it is small. I use either a 2'X2' or 2'X3' gaming surface. The 2X2 I use on a turntable. I try to keep the action moving quickly in, out and amongst lots of scenery. No more than 12-15 characters per side to fight out the scenario. |

20mm, on a 3x3 table. Size of games can be squad level for WWII, 4-10 figures for RPGs, up to 20+ figures for zombie games. |

6'x12' with over a thousand 15mm figures on each side. I don't have to break it down till it's done. It can take a couple of weeks. That's why I'm looking into a skirmish game of maybe only a couple of dozen figures. |
