Like it says, are there any simple board games of Barbarossa (1941) and the Bulge? I cut my teeth on AH Bulge and Stalingrad back in the day but those never finished in two hours, more like 25. |

Bulge – One Page Bulge by Steve Jackson Games. The Avalon Hill Bulge game in the Smithsonian line of games. Barbarossa – if just the 1941 portion of the war then Stalin's War from GMT might work – I think there is a 1941 only scenario in it. The game itself covers the whole war in probably 10 hours. |

There is Stalins War from GMT which can get you thru the whole kebang (for Barbarossa and beyond) in a couple of hours as each turn is seasonal. Another title is No Retreat: The Russian Front. |

Memoir 44 is a simple board game but has a lot of strategy to it. Plays under 2 hrs. Matthew |

Victory Point Games has terrific little games on the East Front including Operation Barbarossa. Just Plain Wargames has a nice, simple Bulge game. |

I have Memoir 44 but find it too tactical to represent more than a snippet of either the Bulge or Barbarossa. One Page Bulge looks interesting. Victory Point Games' Barbarossa is a solo game, so that's out. Just Plain Wargames' Bastogne – is that the whole Bulge or just the fighting around Bastogne? Thanks for the suggestions and keep 'em coming. |

GDW's Fire In The East and Scorched Earth…BWAHAHAHAHAHAHAH! |

Methinks you jest. I recall GDW made mega-games with 3,000 counters, 4 maps and phone-book sized rules. |

3,000 coubters was for the starter scenario… |

Check Boardgamegeek. Corps-level games are usually simpler in play…just don't consider World In Flames. I recently acquired a used computor and digital camera. I should set up Fire in the east just to show everyone how monstrous games can be. |

Defiant Russia is a simple Barbarossa game from Avalanche Press and worth a look. Boardgames Geek link here – I'm not sure if it's still in print but there are a couple of second hand copies available there for very little :) link |

I own Defiant Russia. I'm looking for simpler still. My main board game opponent can move slowly. We played this with him as German and me the Soviets. He moved so slowly that we had to bag it after 4 turns – just as Soviet reinforcements started to show. Putting up with massive losses for four turns and quitting just as the Russkies started to show sucked, you bet. We played again switching sides and I managed to squeak out a slim German win just before we ran out of time. I'm looking for something that ends in two hours, even simpler than Defiant Russia. |

Victory Point has Bulge 20 – link And besides their solo game, they have a series of Barbarossa games covering the first couple of months, roughly broken down into north, centre, south, if that level works for you. Here's one of them – link |
