As I understand the anthropic principle… There are a few constants in physics. A few numbers to the right or left, and the possibility of life (as we know it) ANYWHERE vanishes. The reason that life exists on Earth is because the constants allow it to. One of the tenets are that constants are … constant and do not change. Planck's Constant is the same here as 11 billion light years away. I will take their word on that. Now, I do not really believe that the moon is necessary for life as some seem to think, but the existence of matter does. The boiling point of water may be crucial too, because I only believe in carbon and water life forms. No other system gives the molecular variety. Even in our own solar system, there are a few "possible" candidates for life, even with such odd sources of heat as tidal forces from Jupiter and Saturn. Intelligent life, though. That is a problem. I don't doubt that there are other planets, but I have seen no proof that there is. Maybe "they" are just too smart to leave proof! |

And, no. I am not willing to argue with anyone about it. just throwing out some unprovable thoughts. |

I am not taking the time to read any article that requires me to sit through a Dodge truck commercial. |

No surprise … It would be a statisical improability, if we were the only lifeforms in the Galaxy, let alone the Universe … |

Scientist since von Braun to Carl Sagan have all said its mathematically impossible for us to be the only intelligent life in the galaxy, let alone the universe. Yet the majority of scientists also say cause of the distance between systems. It would be impossible for us to travel to them or for them to travel to us. Recent research might prove this to be false! link With NASA researching the Alcubierre drive. We just might have found the break through to travel faster than light. Which then asks the question, if its possible for them to be more advanced than us. why have we not seen them? Well if you read and research the Washington D.C. flap in 1952. Its very possible they did come here! link Not only where they picked up on radar, over a 1000 people witnessed the objects but they were able to take photos and film of them flying around the capital. Jet fighters were scrambled to intercept them. Short of them landing on the White House lawn and getting their picture taken with the President. I think this might be the best possible event that says we're not alone… |

Caution with the linked site with a Mac. It started that blasted "MacKeeper" pop up that forces you to click on a yes/no dialog box to get past it… or you can do like I always do and quit Safari. I click on NOTHING generated automatically by any website, least of all one purporting to "fix" my computer (which doesn't need "fixing," TYVM). |

Here is how I see it. Gather lots of round objects, coins, badges, plates, frisbees, hulahoops, chakrams, a circus tent, Randy's giant Donut, the footprint of Orthanc's walls, cd's etc. Now get a helicopter and scatter them over Central Park. You now have a purely speculative map of how far signals may have travelled through space based on the footprint of the objects. Some will be overlapping meaning that one can hear the other, while others are very distant from each other. Earth would be like a button or a penny somewhere in a corner. The universe could be very "talky", but we are probably just outside conversation range or some of the messages went past just as the first dinosaurs were around, or the Sumerians were trying to figure out how to write things. |

It is very possible the ETs have done fly-bys or spent a short time on the ground. But if they can intercept our electronic media, and if they can travel light years to get here. I'm pretty sure they could. So if they are watching CNN or HBO, etc., … they would most likey see us as not only unintelligent life forms … but dangerous … If we treat fellow humans "inhumanly" … What would we do to a completely ET/xenomorph life form ? I think we all know that answer … just turn on CNN, FOX, MSNBC, etc., etc. … |
