I have noticed that the recent "Ultramodern (2004-2014)" board has year range listed in the name.

I think this is a nice practice, and I would like to see this extended to some other boards, where appropriate.

For example, "Medieval Discussion" board could be renamed as "Medieval Discussion (500-1500)" or "Medieval (500-1500) Discussion".

People will just argue that this sub-period actually belongs in another period and the alt-gamers will post their chainmail thong or Nazi zombies questions on any topic, they like. (Not That there anything wrong with alt games.)

Actually, I always looked at the titles more a subject matter and content rather than a strict year period. F'r'ex, I always thought the Cold War board was about the Cold War, not just anything that happened during the Cold War period.

I have noticed that the recent "Ultramodern (2004-2014)" board has year range listed in the name.

The dates on this board are purely there to distinguish from the Modern Board where subjects within the last 10 years are banned.

I assume next year the dates on the Ultramodern Board will be changed to 2005 – 2015. In other words, next year, events of 2004 will become eligible in the Modern Board.

Confused?

Apparently, the board formerly known as "Modern discussion" has been already renamed as "Modern Discussion (1946 to 2004)" so I guess the same format would be used for any other boards that would receive year range in their name.

No, it's specifically to distinguish netween Modern and Ultramodern. Date ranges on other boards would lead to far too many arguments …

Yew, please. Do the Pulp Gaming board next. :)

The Pulp Board should have exact dates, including time of day, for both the beginning and end of the era.

ERB hit the carriage return.

"There," he said. "Done."

Pulling the last page of the Tarzan manuscript from the typewriter, he looked up at the clock on the wall, noting the time.

Although others might dispute it, he knew that well and truly, the Pulp Era had begun.
