Not sure if this has been reported before but it looks great and is reported in a mainstream newspaper… link |

Judging by the size of the fingers in the photo at that link, those figures are a tad more than 6mm!! They look like 15mm or 20mm to me. |

Yes, I thought 6mm was a bit small, but the figs look great. Looks like he's got Timecast rivers on the terrain though, 'coz I've got the same . |

The battle is done in 6mm, but to show the uniform detail he used 15mm and 28mm figs. Outstanding efforts Robert! Well done on all accounts! Shawn |

Thanks Shawn. It was hilarious when the photographer came actually. I had set up the area around Mondement, which was one of the critical points in the First Battle of the Marne. The 6mm figures were spread out across the table all ready to photograph. The photographer set up his gear and then said 'Where are the model soldiers?'. I had suspected this would happen so had my 15mm and 28mm figures ready to go as well. ;-) I will prepare a detailed review of the past week, which saw five tables measuring 4' x 8' set up in two rooms of the Dormans' Chateau. The real performance though will come on the actual 100th anniversary, when the set up will be repeated with two additional tables in the Dormans' Memorial Chapel. The chapel commemorates the First and Second Battles of the Marne so is a fitting place to host this. Still got some French cavalry to paint before then so back to the desk… Robert |

The rivers and roads are both TimeCast. I used the new latex versions, with Mat-o-War mats covering Kallistra Hexon terrain. It was wonderful to see the French visitors recognising their towns and surrounding area from the details on the tables. Robert |

It finally got into my sorry excuse for a brain that this is barely 100kms from this chair … Are those tables accessible to the public ? Couldn't find the info on the net. I may go have a look this week-end if they are. Regards, Gwen |

Gwen, the tables will be set up again in the Memorial Chapel in Dormans, France, over the 100th anniversary weekend – September 6th and 7th. You would be very welcome to visit. Robert |

Drat. I'll be on vacation. In Australia. Will the tables be set up after in a museum, or is this a one-off only ? Regards, Gwen |

This specific demonstration won't be set up again unless there is a special request. There will be others though. The terrain can be fully reconfigured so the next one will be First Ypres, covering October and November 1914. This will be set up at SELWG's convention in October – at Crystal Palace. There will be others next year too, including the whole of the Gallipoli landings. Robert |

Here is mention of the exhibition we put on in the Dormans' memorial chapel over the weekend. The article is in French but the man on the far right was the son of a cavalryman who served under Allenby. His whole demeanour and energy level changed as he saw his father's unit set out on one of the tables. You can see it in the photo: link Robert |

The set up for the exhibition took place on 5th September 2014. There are some photos and a brief description here: link Robert |
