guys the usaf had rf4 phantoms for tactical recon, when they retired what took over was it lantirn pods and sniper pods or what was it?

The plan was for it to be F-16s with ATARS pods, but when they pulled the plug on ATARS several stopgaps were used before they settled on TARS.

LANTIRN is a navigation and targeting pod, I don't think it has anywhere near the capability of the RF4Cs.
