Hmm, I do have some AKs with me… |
Gunfreak | 10 Aug 2014 10:38 a.m. PST |
Modern war elephant! With 4 inch think keval plates that cover it, and holding a minigun in the trunk! Ok mabye not!
Not sure how extencive your line is or if it only covers desert parts. |
GeoffQRF | 10 Aug 2014 10:42 a.m. PST |
You know we have these already : link |

GeoffQRF | 10 Aug 2014 10:46 a.m. PST |
Funny enough… I do have First Clash here with me… and the first half dozen done… |
etotheipi | 10 Aug 2014 11:08 a.m. PST |
That's it. You need models for The Clash. Modern (OK, so I'm old) entertainers/performers make good hostages and high value units for tons of scenarios. |
bruntonboy | 10 Aug 2014 11:11 a.m. PST |
Brilliant Geoff. First Clash here we come then. |
GeoffQRF | 10 Aug 2014 11:36 a.m. PST |
Didn't bring the Charlie Gs with me, so will have to do those when I get back. Have just finished the cold war Britain in helmets, including L4 Bren. |
GeoffQRF | 10 Aug 2014 12:01 p.m. PST |
Generally, as I work on something I have a bit left over. Just enough to start on the next thing, or work on a few little additions. And as I am relaxing in Ukraine with little to do… I have finished off the post war British in helmets (well, basic SLR, Bren, GPMG, Command, Law, Charlie G…), made 2 dogs (guard/sniffer for the use of), 1 goose (Romans…), 4 Russian scouts (to go with the BRDM-2s) and my son insisted I make some 'future soldiers'… so in a fairly generic suit with backpack (ventilation), visored helmets with communicator and armed with, as he reliably tells me, energy guns, a portable rail gun, a rocket launcher and a freeze gun (?)… Oh, and 9 cold war Canadians |
Dennis0302 | 10 Aug 2014 12:25 p.m. PST |
Geoff, How about some generic infantry with US gear and Russian weapons? Or some Cubans (could be used as Syrians) with Ridgeway caps? Some civilians armed wit a mix of Soviet and US weapons would be good. |
GeoffQRF | 10 Aug 2014 12:30 p.m. PST |
I have with me SLRs, AKs, M16s and shotguns so I could look at some armed civvies, and some dudes with AKs and Fritz helmets but perhaps with more random webbing (?) |
Weasel | 10 Aug 2014 1:22 p.m. PST |
More militia and client state troops would be good. FAL's, M16's, AK's, a mix of helmets and gear. Danish and Swedes :) Modern Finn's ? American militia More protester types |
wardog | 10 Aug 2014 1:26 p.m. PST |
Oh, and 9 cold war Canadians looking forward to seeing these geoff whats the story with the Swedish infantry you were working on |
GeoffQRF | 10 Aug 2014 1:32 p.m. PST |
Armies Army are going to do Finns, Swedes, Norwegians, etc. I have an S Tank coming |
grommet37 | 10 Aug 2014 2:29 p.m. PST |
my son insisted I make some 'future soldiers'… so in a fairly generic suit with backpack (ventilation), visored helmets with communicator and armed with, as he reliably tells me, energy guns, a portable rail gun, a rocket launcher and a freeze gun (?)… That is one smart kid. Please let us know when these will be available. I will buy at least one of each weapon type, possibly one of each pose. Oh, and freeze guns? Great for incapacitating prisoners, and preparing them for organ harvesting, to preserve the immortality of our offworld zaibatsu overlords. |
Skeptic | 10 Aug 2014 3:20 p.m. PST |
How about some heads for conversions? |
John Armatys | 10 Aug 2014 4:12 p.m. PST |
I didn't know you'd already done the ANP – I've ordered some for when you get back from your holidays. |
Lion in the Stars | 10 Aug 2014 6:16 p.m. PST |
I second the 'troops with Soviet weapons and American gear' request. There's a LOT of moderns that covers! |
Bashytubits | 10 Aug 2014 6:42 p.m. PST |
Do Modern Chineses AFVs and tanks. |
GeoffQRF | 10 Aug 2014 10:45 p.m. PST |
By "Soviet weapons and American gear" do you mean US Kevlar helmets, but AKs, RPGs and RPKs and Russian webbing? Do Modern Chineses AFVs and tanks. Not gong to be able to do that with a bit of green stuff. I'm waiting to see the printed S Tank. If that is good, I will get the ZSL-92 printed next. |
boy wundyr x | 11 Aug 2014 7:34 a.m. PST |
+1 for modern Chinese vehicles (but understand it's not coming out of this project). |
Lion in the Stars | 11 Aug 2014 9:42 a.m. PST |
By "Soviet weapons and American gear" do you mean US Kevlar helmets, but AKs, RPGs and RPKs and Russian webbing? Yes, though I think some of the former-WARPAC nations are now using US webbing, too. |
SouthernPhantom | 11 Aug 2014 10:12 a.m. PST |
Weasel, I second the suggestion of American militia. Although for the more organized ones (Missouri comes to mind), one can just use 1980s-1990s Army infantrymen. |
Krieger | 11 Aug 2014 12:57 p.m. PST |
Don't know how Armies Armys production of Cold war Scandinavians are coming along. Last I heard he had to refinance and rebuild his entire production line? Maybe you know more than me on that part though? If not Swedes, then maybe some Gladio/Stay behind type of infantry? Could always be useful as terrorists, Red Dawn, A very 80's civil war. |
Dennis0302 | 11 Aug 2014 1:01 p.m. PST |
Insofar as former Warsaw Pact Infantry goes they all seem to have their own camo, web gear and weapons. Amazingly enough,if you go to Facebook of all places and search for the 173rd Airborne Brigade, there are pictures of US troops training with Polish paratroopers, Estonians etc. On Youtube their are videos of US Marines training with Romanian troops as well. All good sources of info on weapons, gear and uniforms. Still, generic troops with US gear and Russian weapons would be great for African Union troops, Latin America etc., but the armed civilians with a mix of Russian and US weapons as well as civilian arms would have a very wide range of uses, everything from Red Dawn to East European anti Soviet forces to Zombie killers. |
GeoffQRF | 11 Aug 2014 2:22 p.m. PST |
Insofar as former Warsaw Pact Infantry goes they all seem to have their own camo, web gear and weapons Camo is just a matter of paint scheme, and different weapons are distinctive enough to do. Equally (especially from a distance) the helmet style can be quite distinctive. But it becomes more problematic when you start talking about a different range for every single variation in not only weapon and helmet, but also webbing style. TBH, it's just worth doing an entire range for many of the smaller countries, but we can sometimes get around it by adding a pack with a missing weapon to enable you to bring a suitable range together – perhaps not 100% accurate with the webbing, but a good representation. |
Dennis0302 | 11 Aug 2014 4:08 p.m. PST |
Fair enough. Generics could fit a host of countries and time frames. And a good paint job on a 15mm figure can hide a lot :) |
GeoffQRF | 11 Aug 2014 4:20 p.m. PST |
That said, if there are any ranges that you think: "I could use for [insert nationality] if only they had a [insert weapon type]" Now is a good time to mention it ;-) |
Weasel | 11 Aug 2014 4:59 p.m. PST |
Some US infantry with shotguns? |
Krieger | 11 Aug 2014 5:22 p.m. PST |
Heh, then I would say that I could (probably, since I haven't seen them in high resolution) use your germans as swedes. Would want a different helmet, a bunch of Swedish-Ks, GPMGs and Charlie-Gs I suppose. :D |
Lion in the Stars | 11 Aug 2014 6:06 p.m. PST |
Ultramodern US with M26 Masterkey (underbarrel shotgun) or a regular shotgun w/ M4 slung. I suppose you could also do M4 w/ shotgun slung, too, but I'd prefer the shotgun to-hand. IIRC, most squad leaders were handed a shotgun (or M26) for door-breaching. |
GeoffQRF | 12 Aug 2014 8:15 a.m. PST |
Ok, the produced list so far is: PW Britain in helmet 6 with SLR 3 Command SLR 3 RTO 3 Sterling 3 Carl Gustav 2 L4 Bren 1 Blowpipe 2 GPMG 2 FOO/FAC (spotters) 1 2" mortar 2 dogs (guard or sniffer) 1 goose (Chas has some already) 2 downed pilots 3 Spetznaz scouts Cold War Canadians 6 C1 3 Command (C1) (rest to follow) Multi-purpose, Fritz helmets and AK assault rifles, slight mix of webbing 6 with AKs 3 Command (more to follow) 'Future' soldiers (no name yet), in generic suits with visored helmets and backpack style respirators 3 'energy' weapons 3 heavy weapons (portable, support, railgun, missile/rocket launcher, plasma/freeze gun) These can, of course, be whatever you think they are. They could be used as terrain to fight off world, or aliens to invade Earth… Modern US Special Forces on horseback 4 horses, 4 riders (2 poses) in a mix of Afghan dress and US webbing, with M16. And I still have nearly 2 weeks of holiday left… |
GeoffQRF | 12 Aug 2014 12:41 p.m. PST |
I have just added to my lineup: Civilians with AK 3 'command' (signalling/waving, so could be used generally for pose variation, or as some form of leader, ideal for FoF irregular) 6 mixed poses (these will be in civvies clothing, shirts, jackets, little or no webbing, little or no headgear) I'm thinking these 9 will all be with AK. I may then add a 3 pose pack for each other primary common weapon type (M16, G3, SLR) Modern US 2 figures with shotgun, M4 slung Who patrols with left handers? I can do a pack of modern US and modern Germans when I get home (as I don't have any M4s or G36 with me). I don't recall seeing G3 or SLR being handled left handed? What about M16? |
jeffbird | 12 Aug 2014 1:16 p.m. PST |
Modern Israeli with Tavor TAR-21 Bullpup Rifle. |
GeoffQRF | 12 Aug 2014 1:33 p.m. PST |
Ha ha… it is kinda limited to the weapons I have with me… I may see if I have something to carve up a Tavor out of though… |

Milites | 12 Aug 2014 3:05 p.m. PST |
How about modern SAS/SBS troops, shemagh's, C8's etc? They could be used in any number of situations and represent several Commonwealth SF units. |
Dennis0302 | 12 Aug 2014 3:06 p.m. PST |
|
Mako11 | 12 Aug 2014 4:08 p.m. PST |
Not enough prone troopers, or casualties for the various ranges. Plus, those much coveted East Germans and Swedes from the height of the Cold War would be nice. Perhaps some Spetznatz figs with AKs and RPGs/MANPADs, in civilian clothing as well. |
Lion in the Stars | 12 Aug 2014 7:55 p.m. PST |
I'd also be game for an MQ9 Reaper drone to go with my Predator! |
GeoffQRF | 12 Aug 2014 11:36 p.m. PST |
Perhaps some Spetznatz figs with AKs and RPGs/MANPADs, in civilian clothing as well. Would they be different from the armed civilians with AKs? |
GeoffQRF | 13 Aug 2014 2:02 a.m. PST |
How about modern SAS/SBS troops, shemagh's, C8's etc? You know we have these? link Think they armed with M16, and m16/203 |
Milites | 13 Aug 2014 6:32 a.m. PST |
Ooops, obviously failed my spotting roll. I do think a range of likely battlefield robots would be nice. I'm talking the load bearing 'mule' types and air platforms, as well as armed tracked/legged variants and mini-recce bots. Perhaps some micro-drones as well?
|
grommet37 | 13 Aug 2014 11:58 a.m. PST |
I second the crawler/walker drones idea, especially for the near future troops. Maybe even a drone operator, with spotter and mechanic/sentinel. |
GeoffQRF | 13 Aug 2014 12:55 p.m. PST |
|
GeoffQRF | 15 Aug 2014 4:25 a.m. PST |
Ok, added a couple of left handed modern Americans with M4 |
GeoffQRF | 15 Aug 2014 9:15 a.m. PST |
I did a little Russian Pchela drone a while back. Wonder where that is… I've also done the Zala 421-08. Do you want more small drones? What's the little hand launched thing the British and Americans use? |
Milites | 15 Aug 2014 10:01 a.m. PST |
Erm, a Black Hornet in 15mm would just look like some flash, surely? Though you could do the operator with portable control panel.
