My guess on the figures with the covered shakos: French line in campaign uniform. Portuguese had Barrentina (sp?), very like the Waterloo shako. Spanish wore bicorns, top hats, some pinched French shakos and then stove pipes provided by the British. Those look like French shakos to me. |

I agree, they look very much French campaign style. Many Portuguese units wore British-supplied 'stovepipe' shakos. |

Thanks Guys, I guess I'll finish these off as French then. I'll maybe add some Portuguese and some Spanish once I see how close the Pendraken offerings are. |

If I recognize those correctly, they used to be sold by Pendraken as a separate "Peninsula" range. I still have a few bags sitting in a box if you need replacements. The current Pendraken figures might be a tad bulkier than the older figures. Cheers, Christopher |

@CATenWolde I have some on order so will see soon enough. Bulkier is OK, shorter or taller is not OK. @138SquadronRAF I'll check out Magister Militum. |

Christoper is right, I have some the British from the Pendraken 'Old' Peninsula range, they are sligntly taller and thinner than the current figures. Leon has yet to get round to redoing the British for the Peninsula |

I've just received a pack of 'old' Peninsular British infantry from Pendraken and they look pretty similar size wise. I will certainly be able to mix them up in the same unit. |

@Jim: Sorry to hear about the loss of your gaming buddy, but I can't think of a better way to remember him than add to a project of his! The local modelers did the same when the guy running the hobby shop in Moscow, ID passed away suddenly. He'd been working on a 'one of every Sherman variant ever built' project, and had most of the WW2 variants finished. There have been a few additions to the collection since. I should really figure out 1/35 models, maybe build one of the Israeli Shermans, I still miss the guy and he passed back in the 1990s… Now, about the basing/organization. I agree that a tighter frontage looks better for Napoleonics, especially line. I remember that the French had both a 6-company and a 9-company organization at different times, I think 6-company replaced the 9-company. But don't hold me to that! For the skirmishers, I think it really depends on how you want to deal with them in your rules. I really like the LaSalle rules, so I'd put the skirmishers in action poses on 2-3 stands per battalion. LaSalle uses "skirmisher points" and gives a firefight bonus to the side with more skirmishers. Then again, LaSalle uses standardized-size units (either 4 bases or 6 for the large battalions), so my preferences may not work well with how your rules work. |
