Before I head swap AIP American Revolution Cavalry with Napoleonic Dragoon heads, does anyone know a source for AWI cavalry in helmets aside from All the Kings Men?

Imrie-Risley?

Nick -- you certainly pose some interesting dilemmas.

Perhaps the Italeri 1/32 French dragoons might be close enough if painted as American Revolution-era dragoons?

I was not aware of the Imrie – Risley figures. Beautiful figures, but a little out of my price range. I think I will have to go with All the Kings Men. I have found that their figures look better in the flesh than on the site.
dBerczerk – thanks for your suggestion and your patience!

Nick, feel free to peruse all the separate heads available in our AWI range and across all our lines. The cav bodies you need are headless, so we can combine most anything.

I remember seeing some on the Helmet website, they might have been conversions but that would imply they do the parts.

Found that Del Prado has a Continental Dragoon officer in its Cavalry Through the Ages collection. All the Kings Men is still the front runner in terms of price and variety

Nick, I like DP figures (and carry some!) but they do tend to run big. They're about 60mm. Just FYI.

The Del Prado figures are very nice, but lifting a regiment of twelve figures to a game off-site may be hazardous to the health of your sacroiliac.

The figures from ATKM may not appear all that inspiring with only photos of unpainted samples on their website to judge them by, but with a little paint they can look quite marvelous!

Why don't you contact Imrie/Risley and see if they you can special order only the dragoon heads for the different regiments?

Thanks for all the input. I'm going to go with Ken's figures. I just received some civilian militia from ATKM and I have to say I appreciate All the King's Men adherence to true 54mm scale.

FWIW, French Napoleonic Dragoon heads would not give you a very accurate AWI head anyway. You'd be better off using British Light Infantry heads. One of the plastic manufacturers (I can't recall which one--senior moment) produces a set of British LI, all wearing the helmet worn by the 5th Foot (and I assume other regiments).

But rather than go through all that, why not just stick with All The Kings Men--you really can't go wrong.

dBerczerk, thanks! But I decided to go with ATKM.

You have chosen wisely, Grasshopper.
