There was an older discussion about seeking a suitable 25/28mm figure to portray Lady Anne Mackintosh, "Colonel Anne," "la belle rebele", -- I was thinking of something like Julia Ormond's military uniform in "Young Catherine" -- but I can't locate it despite many fruitless searches. So this starts a new topic. I wanted to show what I did with a figure that was suggested to me in the old discussion (the manufacturer of which I have now forgotten -- but it was a Scottish firm, possibly located in Helensburgh), a noblewoman, mounted, from a range of highwaymen and victims. I finally bought one of these and painted her up in a way to best suggest Jacobite sympathies -- Lady Anne was born a Farquarson and came from a family of Jacobite leanings and raised the Clan Chattan confederation for Prince Charles while her Hanoverian husband was away from home -- tartan where it seemed advisable, and I did my best to crudely reshape her hat into a tricorn. Paint the bow white for a Jacobite cockade and there she goes! Colonel Anne did not lead her regiment in battle but I like to have this figure in my Jacobite armies just in case she takes it into her head to do so someday -- plus it will encourage my wife to take a command at some future game.

Great job!

Perhaps Crann Tara Miniatures will add her to its Jacobite range.

Great conversion. Nice work on the tartan. Nice work on the face.

I can imagine Lord Mackintosh's homecoming:

"You did WHAT while I was gone?"

Nice conversion.

Minden Miniatures produce two nice 18th Century gentle ladies on horseback in 28mm that might also be of interest.

Great work, as always, Piper!

Where can we all get one? I like how you did the paint up too.
I'd paint the belle up as a Princess Colonel of a imagination unit.
Ah! Inspection day for Grenadier Reg. Princess Irene sounds perfect, Pale Lilic-grey with Primrose facings. Colonels flag damask-rose quartered with primrose and her family arms of a heart with a white hart enclosed on a gold crown.
Sound good anyone?
More ideas for the lass?
Again nice work piper.
Cheers

OOh, the Minden figure is pretty much what I was originally looking for! Thanks for posting that link here. I'd have bought this in a minute if I'd known of this a year or two ago, when I began my search. I may pick one up in any case for other purposes. Good to have this on file. Also thanks for the correct figure ID above. I was frustrated to not be able to locate the original discussion thread, which preserves all this information and more besides.

These are good imaginary/hypothetical figures. I love Ormond's military look in Young Catherine. Who wouldn't enlist to follow her?

Go for that army, Grelber! It's well worth the effort. I have been using a self-designed variant of The Sword & the Flame rules for my battles and you don't need huge armies for that. Black Powder or Beneath the Lily Banner are also promising rules sets with flexible figure requirements.
