Across the Deadly Field is a rule by John Hill, author of Johnny Reb, to simulate the battles of the American Civil War at a regimental level but on extensive scales.
It is also a new rule published by Osprey who is aiming the historical war gamers.

Hey Armand,

Thanks for highlighting this. By the way, the title of the rules is actually, "Across A Deadly Field." Here is a link to some TMP discussion on these rules.

I played a game of this during Johnny Con here in Indianapolis this June it is a fun game with some similarities to JR3 but some very clever and nice differences that keep all players involved in reacting.

I haven't Bought rules in YEARS, but this is going to be on my list.

I think the rules look good, but I have trouble with only two stands for the unit. Especially in 28mm. I bet 6 or 10mm would look great though. I am looking forward to trying the rules.

I wouldn't worry about the 2-3 stand units, theu will normally be pretty much almost linked with other regiments to form a battleline for mutual support. They will be setup in a brigadelike formation of 2-3 stand regiments.
