Well, as the first of TWO hurricanes (Iselle, followed by Julio) is blowing on shore now, I am off to the homestead to batten down the hatches and play Carcassonne and drink… see you all after it blows over.

Echoing "stay safe."

Post here when they've passed, so we know you made it through okay.

What are two Hurricanes without any Messerschmidts, Dorniers, or Heinkels?

Charlie 1207 Aug 2014 6:16 p.m. PST

Batten down and ride it out… And TWO big blows?? That's more than anyone should get smacked with… Stay safe and sound!

Stay safe, and dry (if you can). Let us know when you climb out of your foxhole.

My wife said, "That is SO wrong."
My glass of brandy said, "I LIKE it!"

Still waiting for it to hit Oahu some time early morning…

Thanks for the support!

Wow, that was like going to a UH sporting event… a lot of buildup, then the visitor just blew through anticlimactically, and left us with some cleanup.

I do appreciate the day off from work, and I got to test all my emergency lanterns and stove, so its good prep for an actual emergency. :)

I hope Bob from Maui did okay, they had some big blow-downs over there.

I had the good fortune to live on Oahu during the visit by Hurricane Iniki in 1992.

Thankfully it too passed by without extensive destruction.

A little tougher on the folks on Kauai, but it also could have been much worse.

Glad to hear you weathered the storm without mishap.
